I always used to get a major buzz watching Senna race, amazingly special & important to me. I thought I'd lost that feeling forever until I discoverd Rossi, you'll never know how lucky I feel to get it back. & I feel like I owe Rossi alot for that, pure ....... enjoyment. & I'm savouring every second because I know it's finite.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Andy Roo @ Oct 19 2008, 12:27 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>They were comparing him to Bayliss for his ride whilst injured capability. He wasn't even winding it on, he got to 309 in FP2 but didn't stretch it out over 300 in the race. He's making sure he gets second place in the championship.

Are you saying that he went slower on the straight so that he could rest the wrist longer and not put so much stress on it for braking? Wasn't the Ducati capable of getting up into the 320kph earlier in the season?

There was a lot of talk about rider weight from the eurosport guys this weekend. I am guessing that Hayden's honda may have the power but has to run a bit more lean than, say Pedro's honda. Especially in this race. Therefore you see a less than 5kph speed advantage from Nicky to Dovi. The commentators said they expected this parade like race because the speeds were all very close in practices. Also, over a race this long and hard on tires, especially Michelins, you see a lighter Dovi with a little bit more rubber in the end that made the difference. I'll make the excuses for Nick

Great ride from Valentino and Pedrosa as well.

Tough day for Hayden fans, Dovi had his number on last year's bike. However frustrating it was to watch Nicky struggle, it revealed something interesting---at some tracks, the pneumatic engine has little if any benefit what-so-ever. This race was startlingly similar to the race at Estoril earlier this year when all the Hondas were still running spring valves.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (clarkjw @ Oct 19 2008, 02:32 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Enlighten me .........! Did you monitor their splits? Nicky has a better bike all around. He should have won.

Spoken like a true NHRA fan.

"Ughh fast gud - fast win every time. Duhh."

A 5kph advantage doesn't mean .... at the end of the race when your tires are shot. And who are you to say it's the "better" bike? Better in what way? How many times in the last two seasons have we seen riders get newer, "improved" parts - only to do way better by using last year's part. Sure it's a "newer" bike, but one that's an ergonomic nightmare if you're not a dwarf. Where have you been the last two years? If you've failed to take that into account - even the Dali Lama won't be able to enlighten you. In post race interview Hayden said (in so many words) maybe - if he'd been willing to do something stupidly risky - he might have got past Dovi in the end - but it was more important to finish the race in one piece. In the end - it may just have come down to Dovi wanting to look good for Honda and being a hot young rookie, he just wanted that podium more than Hayden. Regardless - no reason to slag Hayden.

Are you saying the fastest bike will\should always win?
<

Some surprising results here...

And why are you guys having a go at Nick? He was (and maybe is) worse than Dovi, but that doesn't mean he's bad.

Nice to see Pedrosa was his usual "fighting" self today, he is ....... crap as soon as he sees another rider!

And respect to Hopper he wasnt the worst Kawasaki today!

Sadly, he is still pish, so the sooner he gats sacked the better.

Pete

good race to rossi, well deserved champion

great battle between dovi and hayden, congrats to dovi for first podium

pedrosa you have no balls and it shows every time someone challenges you for a position. good rider, terrible racer

the rest of the field bored me to tears

It was a pretty boring race Dovi raced good and hard because nicky was on his ... most of the race and didnt pull it off. I would have loved to have seen nicky on the podium but maybe at valencia. Rossi was on it as usual. but any moto gp race is a good race so i cant complain i wonder what happend to jorge? im looking foward to next week.

Congrats to Rossi. Had it not been for him this race would have been more of a ....... for me.

Is Pedrosa French?

Dovi wanted the podium more, period.

Nicky got beat fair and square. It was a sad day for me. No way should this have happened for so many reasons. Simply, he got beat today.

Nakano, who cares.

Other mentionables: Does anybody still think Suzuki should have kept Vermi over Spies?

Also, overall (even with the tiny exchange that Hayden & Dovi had) this race was fairly borning. I’m not sure what it was that made it seem like they were in slow motion, puhaps the extra wide track, long straights, poor camera work, or lack of place exchanges, but it just seem slow to me. I started laughing when the white flags came out, I was thinking they were doing this for added drama.

Ducati looked miserable today, I'm worried.

Outstanding! Thanks for this.

Perhaps we already know pinky/27's new alias.

Not a bad race reallly.. bit of a time trial for the majority of riders but so so..

Well done Rossi see if he can make it 10 ! Congrats to Dovi for his first GP podium the kids a gem !

Whats up with people thinking Pedrosa gave up?

Rossi was toying with him when he was in 2nd place and when he finally past Pedrosa he showed that he was in a different class.

Pedrosa finished 2nd for God's sake, which means he beat everyone else but Rossi and you still bash the crap out of him.

Give it a rest!

Well the answer to that is simple. Because he did.

Once passed did he catch or pass Valentino? No. Did he even try? No.

Watch the BBC interview. He said he felt Vale was comfortable behind him, he slowed down and Vale passed

The slowing down and handing up a position part is usually what people will call giving up

Mabey you should <u>give it a rest</u> and stop making stupid posts!!

Interestingly however, this is exactly what a number have 'urged' that Stoner should have done during the period of races where he crashed through trying to stay in front.

IMO, Pedrosa did seem to give up the chase a tad easy but he is still very new to Bridgestones and would have known the gap to Dovisioso and therefore known he could manage that gap. He would not yet know the full capabilities in terms of longevity of the 'stones so his best strategy was to finish as high as possible within these circumstances. this he did so credit where it is due.

Once Rossi past Danibot....Dani gave up the chase and SETTLED for second....

By Contrast....
Dovi fought from lap 1 to 21 to get and keep 3rd place....and he even got passed and retook position from a factory rider and former champ....that is called not giving up....that is fighting and winning!

Best battle of the weekend....and it showed the difference between coming in from 250s vs Superbikes in my view...

Turn the question around, do you think Spies would really want to ride the crap bike of the Suzuki?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Jumkie @ Oct 20 2008, 06:20 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Ducati looked miserable today, I'm worried.
Don't worry, Stoner is hurting and if he was really bright he'd get the operation now....Ducati will be fine, so long as Hayden can develop the bike for Casey, Canepa, Sete and Kallio and not just for Nicky....otherwise, Ducati are going to depending heaviliy on Canepa and Sete for the next few months....

Garry

That would have been better for his championship, but thats easier said than done when your out on track and your in it to win it.
Its hard to say because of Casey crashing out, but I'd throw a nice wager on it that Casey would have tried to pass Valentino again had he slowed down let Valentino pass and followed him for a bit

Yea Dani gave up the chase but rode a sensible race and kept it rubber side down. He knew second place would be more than likely be secured by Casey and the last thing he wanted to do after PI is to bin it again.
Thats the difference between Casey and Dani. While Casey might "fold under the pressure" he's not a "quitter".

1 Valentino ROSSI.. The GOAT

2 Dani PEDROSA.. The ........ I bet Alberto made this little ..... toss his salad last night.

3 Andrea DOVIZIOSO.. The ROOK (congrats for first podium)

4 Nicky HAYDEN.. good run

5 Shinya NAKANO..
<
WTF?!

6 Casey STONER..
