MotoGP new comer FB Corse has announced that they’ve signed John Hopkins to their 2010 season debut. When FB Corse first hit our radar back in September, the new MotoGP team stated that they had not secured a rider, but were keen on signing American John Hopkins to their racing efforts.

After things fell silent on the Italian front, we broke the news that John Hopkins has since been in talks about a possible ride in the AMA Pro Racing series with Pat Clark Motorsports. It would seem that PCM’s AMA Deathstar will have to go on hold for now, as FB Corse has officially announced that Hopper will be riding with them next year. Hopper will join the FB Corse team in Milan on January 21st for the team’s official presentation.

In their announcement, FB Corse also announced that is has secured Simone Gorztkyj to ride the team’s Moto2 bike. Gorztkyj will ride the 600cc machine in five races as a wildcard. Both Hopper and Gorztkyj will take part in shakedown tests set for January in either Italy or Spain, weather depending.

For their MotoGP effort FB Corse will be using a three cylinder machine, which is the left-overs from the now defunct BMW MotoGP effort. According to the current MotoGP rules, FB Corse’s triple can be nearly 15lbs lighter than the rest of the field’s four and five cylinder motorcycles. Let’s hope FB Corse has better luck with their triple than the last Italian team who tried the three cylinder arrangment with an American on boa

it can't be too bad for hopper lets hope he and FB stay in motogp and don't fold
hoppers had some bad luck and some big off's
i just can't see a triple doing a lot against even the back markers in motogp.
good luck though FB/Hopper

Agree - the entire venture has disaster written all over it I'm afraid to say, but It'll be great to hear a triple again in GP. You'd think were the formula to stay at 800cc that there might be some mileage out of the project, but when this reverts to 1000cc the thing will get crucified. Either that, or it'll become monstrously powerful, and like another cube, be completely untamable irrespective of the electronics. The costs of developing the thing will be astronomical - I see another Ilmor.

Pete where the hell are you?; Hopper threads somehow just aren't the same anymore!!

Good for Hopper I hope he makes something of the opportunity. I love triples and hope it's very competitive. Compact, light and torquey. Just what you need in motogp. I think it will be the perfect 800cc engine.

Hopper has great potential, when hes not lying in bed drunk having stress with his wife! and not appearing to practice!

hope he does well!

looking forward to seeing him live twice in 2010!

I for one Hope this is true. Hopper did a good job when he was with suzuki, but after that everything just went to .... with the Kawi situation and all the injurys. hopefully the low point of his career is over and he can have a good season

Why? Mayb if Malandri did it perhaps he can too impress on a ...... project.

(Btw, did u get ur chickenshit exemployer sorted?)

Correction, Hopkins Has Not Signed with FB Corse

December 28, 2009

Oops! Even though Giovanni Blandina, one of FB Corse’s sponsors, confirmed the same news on his website, it seems we jumped the gun in announcing last week that John Hopkins had signed with the Italian team for the 2010 MotoGP season. While confirming that the former Kawasaki rider is in talks with FB Corse about a MotoGP project, his manager Bob Moore says that no deal has been signed and that Hopkins is still considering his options, including riding in the AMA Pro Road Racing series.

Our apologies. Next time we'll hire our own translator for any Italian stories we come across.

april fools ? maybe
