Just read on crash.net:

http://www.crash.net/news_View~t~Final-sea...5~id~125625.htm

Fogarty and Petronas will not renew their 5 year deal to stay in WSBK after this season.
I never liked the petronas bike, it's ruined too many careers, but this news raises questions over Steve Martin's future. Could he be the last poor soul for the Petronas to claim before it finally gets locked away forever?
Foggy says hell pursue other avenues for staying in world championship racing. Maybe he'll get bikes from a real manufacturer.
You know, despite my contempt for outspoken old Carl and the swelling WSBK grid, I don't want to see him leave. I can't belive I'm saying this but I hope there's a future for Foggy Racing

I think it's fair to say that the Petronas bikes were doomed from the start. On paper they never stacked up and this has been played out on the track. Yea it has ruined careers for sure but the one guy who did something with the bike was Corser. He said that because of the bikes sheer naffness (not his words, lol), it made him rider harder and better to compensate. Ultimately ending up with the WSB title again.

With all due respect for Foggys riding abilities, TT, WSB etc. the guy is too much of a gobshte for any serious manufacturer to pick up as a team manager. He always cited that he should be in GP's riding a factory 500 (but was only given wildcards which of the three times he rode, he crashed them twice). Sure he matured as a rider but his his off-track personality did him in. I mean who says in an autobiograhy "I was better than Sheene" and seriously mean it. The guy's a child and always will be....

That's my rant over I'm sure this will court some controversy.

PS. I am grateful to Foggy for what he bought to the sport in his career, 120k people at Brands etc. he put bike racing back on the map for the UK

He has shown interest in running a MotoGP team. He'd be a good personality to have in the paddock, don't know who would give him bikes or money though. But could you imagine a Foggy Team with Max Biaggi as the rider? It would be the most spectacular team in history.

good post pinkers

Richo, after todays racing you have to worry about Craig Jones now. His confidence will be at an all time low. Even Whitham was quite frank about the bike on the commentary on Eurosport.

Let's hope it doesn't do Jones in!

When you're running a junk like that you need to be smart and don't kill yourself trying to follow guys with REAL bikes, your aim should be beating your teammate.

That and the only thing I know about Jones is he took the ride from a former GP ace. Now, he was doing Mccoy a favor I guess, but where's Mccoy now?
Anyway I've got the classic "Don't know, don't care" attitude about this guy. My main concern is Martin and McCoy (Where are you, buddy?

But, sure I agree, the bike's horrible and if you look at its former riders theres a majority of brits and Aussies. See all you who don't have the union jack on your flag? Our riders are babysitting the monster so your riders can stay safe on bikes that work.

Is he young? If he is he's still got a chance to rebulid himself after this year. I'm just happy they're going. Wonder what Windbag Carl's gonna do now. Any thoughts?

You have gotta be gratefull wether we like him or not, that is right. Plus what he said about himself being better than sheene- Think about it, would he have won 4 world titles if he had never thought he was the best?.... think about it, to be the best at your game you have to believe that!!

Yeah, and Rossi surely thinks he's better than Doohan. And he might be, but you don't go mouthing off about it. Especially riders like Sheene. Maybe one of his rivals, but it just proves the lack of respect Foggy has for...... anyone. IMO ex-champions like Sheene (Who is now dead, I remind you) Should be afforded great respect. Foggy had no business coming out in public and saying he's better than a rider who raced in a different championship to him 2 decades before him. Even if he thought that to give himself a mental edge, its not somthing he should make public.

Absolutely, but the question is his conduct off track not his ability on track. Every racer out there believes he is the best otherwise they'd never get up in the morning. Foggy just perpetuates his own idiocy by mouthing off through the press making irreleavent statements like the 'Sheene' thing. Different era makes it impossible to compare but if you ask any joe in the street....name a famous motorcycle racer they'll all say Sheene. Let's face it, stupid statements like that sell books the fact that he believes it makes it all the more sad!

I can't think of any other rider that has acted or continues to act the way that Foggy did/does. Biaggi comes close. Did you see Bayliss/Corser giving each hell after the race, slagging each other off through the press. No, they shake hands and chat something that was nigh on impossible for Foggy.

Hate was his fuel which he is frank about in his book (which I failed to finish) His whole approach to racing was to pick his closest rival and then attempt to assainate them through the press, often with success.

In his book he questions why he never got a factory ride? He was a marketing nightmare for most other manufacturers, he believed his own hype which is dangerous.

Yeah, in that Hodgson interview on SBK planet, he basically says Foggy was the teammate from hell, which I can belive. From there Hodgson went to having Bayliss as a teammate, one of the nicest guys in world championship racing. That would have been a big diffrence I think.
