Nine Riders

'Knockers was recently lamenting the fact that the last time a satellite bike won a GP was in 2006.

However, a friend posed a question having read a piece on MotoGP.com that there have been nine riders to have won races in top class between 2007 and the present. JKs observation is obviously quite useful to bear in mind.

Without cheating, off the top of your head can you name them?

(Jum, it took Ros and I at least 15 minutes to list them all which was a bit .... really. I should imagine most will get to seven very quickly though.)

Wrong on two counts - Two of those were 2006 one also being the satellite in question - but props for a quick reply.

I'm deducting a further point on account of Dovi's gender reassignment.

A Ducati at Motegi and a Yamaha at Assen. Weather was a factor in both.

Weather was a factor in two others:

Manufacture, British GP, edit
Manufacture, Le Mans GP,edit

Ralf Waldemann made a comeback ride in 250 - fitting given that this was the scene of his most memorable race, and had a massive highside in front of us.

Super easy. All yam/honda factory riders won. Except the mild texas breeze,duh.
And who could forget 2007s main bopper argument that it wasn't all casey.
My heart still bleeds for cripknee. I thought he was destined to win more

I'll never forget that GP because of a quote Colin Edwards made about the race on live TV, one short concise assessment, do you remember what he said?

Bonus trivia question: There is another significant and noteworthy occurrence at this GP which was triggered by the atrocious weather. Anybody remember it?

Well I remember he was on the rostrum but I never saw the race on TV or highlights because I didn't record it.

Sounds like a typically acerbic one liner - perhaps containing an expletive or two?

You still may remember it because I'm sure it was mentioned either in the press release or by us on the forum:

The first thing he said, and I want to think it was in parc ferme the moment they put a mic in his face:

"That was 45 minutes of ....... ........!" (Or something along those lines). I'll BJC/MT1980 it.
