Personally I preferred the red and black and white Santander colours, and ultimately the R7 colour scheme -which again was red black and white. Rob Mac's BSB squad got a lot of kudos for switching to the Yamaha Blue last season, but again I preferred the red and black of the Virgin bikes.

I associate red with firstly Ducati, secondly Honda. That said I think yellow was Yamaha's original color, but I may be mistaken. The blue association for me comes from years watching blue Yamaha dirtbikes. At any rate, still a sharp looking machine they got this year, with a sexy engine sound as well. And I do find it funny that Spies has the state of Texas flag on his bike, in the same place where Sykes has the Union Jack. Granted it's been part of his personal logo.

Agree.
I guess I just like a bike in black white and red. The yellow was always synonymous with the Yam and KR Snr as far as I was concerned. I used to have an RD400 in red black and white - its just stuck, so I particularly loved the classic red and black revival at Valencia in '05

I thought they were originally white with the red stripe, but i too could be mistaken.
As for the superbike livery, it looks pretty much like the roadbike, its not offensive but it doesn't look great.

You're both right. White with red is yamaha's factory colours, and yellow and black is Yamaha north America's colours, which was technically a branch of th factory team. Hence why that livery was run on the M1s at laguna seca, and the white version at valencia.
