People hated Nakano? That 2000 series was awesome. Yamaha went to a square engine, had two hungry riders and went almost to the wire. Hearing him and Jacques button off so effin late into T1 at Phillip Island left no doubt as to who was on it that weekend. The Yams. We wandered down there into the outfield just to hear and watch them.

Fast forward to Nakano on the RSV4 9 years on and it was all a little sad.

Jacque v. Nakano was everything that is good about motorcycle racing. There is a good video on the MotoGP Youtube channel about it. There was no place for excuses in that 250cc season, it was down to you to beat the other guy.

Jacque only won the championship because of a stupid slipstream pass...... which I don't even consider a 'pass'!! 


 


Nakano was the better rider of the two and should of won.
