Jorge Lorenzo : "I will continue for two more years. I will be on a good bike. More information at Barcelona."

Guess we'll have to wait, anyway I'm really happy that he's not retiring this year!
"I will be on a good bike."

I guess that rules out Yamaha, right Rossi fans?

It should also rule out: Ducati Suzuki KTM Aprilia...and Honda, right Cuntslow?

If you live in a glass house don't throw rocks.

Morbidelli and Lornezo riding Yamahas next yeah? Luthi out, he's only on a one year contract.

Carmelo saves his career....?
I'm sure we'll see everyone here complaining about the Carmelo intervention for JL just like when VR returned to Yamaha.

Right?

In the words of Winston Wolff, "lets not start sucking eachother's dicks just yet." Unless I missed something, Carmelo hasn't yet acted as his sport agent. If it does happen though, we can bury the debate that he propped Rossi's career, yes?

What was that brand that Sete Gibernau’s family owns?
Maybe they’re making a comeback!

Valentino Rossi says if Jorge Lorenzo does move to a satellite Yamaha deal in 2019 it will provide a similar challenge to this year from Johann Zarco and Tech 3 but wouldn’t be against the deal due to the benefits it could provide him.

Reports have emerged linking Lorenzo with a move back to Yamaha but with a new-look satellite team for next season, with both Rossi and Maverick Vinales recently signing new long-terms deals at the factory squad.

Lorenzo looks destined for the exit at current team Ducati and with options drying up, it appears the three-time MotoGP world champion could opt for a return to Yamaha to rediscover his pace.

Rumours have long linked Marc VDS as the new Yamaha outfit, after Tech 3’s confirmed move to KTM for next season, with significant backing from Monster who are also a major sponsor to Lorenzo.

Rossi jokingly dismissed any ideas he will have a say in Yamaha’s future satellite team and feels if Lorenzo is lined up for 2019 it will provide both challenges and opportunities.

“After I tried to stop Zarco, I will try to stop Lorenzo! I’m joking,” Rossi said in the Mugello Thursday press conference. “I was already with Jorge for a long time and he is a great, great rider and is able to ride the Yamaha very fast.

“I think it will be hard if Lorenzo comes back but the situation will be very similar to this year because we have Zarco who is very strong.

“When you are in Yamaha you always have a great teammate or a fast rider with the same bike. From that point of view it will be more difficult but it is also good because you have better motivation and you can see the way another rider rides the bike and try to learn and to improve.”

Lorenzo has appeared as the biggest name on the grid without an obvious option for his MotoGP future if he is to be dumped by Ducati, but the Spanish rider confirmed in Mugello he will not leave the championship and he’ll be able to clarify his future at the next round in Barcelona.

Rossi was the best candidate for the factory Yamaha seat at the time, by a margin.

JL is the best candidate for any available Yamaha seat.

I'm just pointing out that those who had an issue with Carmelo's (alleged) intervention in 2012, seem to be rather silent about any suggestion of Carmelo's intervention now.

Carmelo's intervention? I haven’t read about it, please direct me to it. Is Carmelo subsidizing Jlo's salary?

He didn't win anything in 2016.

He announced that he was going to leave Yamaha shortly after Qatar 2016 (I don't remember the exact point but it was the beginning of the season). So yeah, Jumkie is right, he was coming from winning a title.

Lol....yeah and he left for Ducati at the end of the season in 3rd place in the championship just like Rossi did in 2010......

I can't remember that so ok.

I'll bite.

Big difference as Caramello was the first to say that 'I am not worried, Valentino will be on a competitive bike next year' and then a few weeks later Rossi went public with the Yamaha move (there were rumbling throughout).

As it stands today I have not seen Caramello mention that Jorge will be on a competitive ride next year (please point me to any article that does state this).

Now, if you look at the timelines it is clear that Caramello knew before Rossi went public that he was leaving but as yet, no such comments from Caramello.

What one can make of this could well be as simple as MikeM's comment being that Caramello learnt from last time (be he have played a role or just been aware), or one could surmise that he has played no part this time).

Make of it what you will.

June: 2012 - The latest rumours leaving Italy have Marc Marquez already signed up with Repsol Honda, as the Rookie Rule is all but certain to be abolished at Assen, with Rossi returning to the keep the HRC camp in winning contention, whilst helping to nurture the Spaniard's talent in the top flight.
