MotoGP and World Superbike - two ring motogonochnye series, having the status of the world championship. The first pilots are competing on the racing prototype, the second - on technology, built on the basis of production vehicles. And how different the cost of participation in these two episodes?

This question was asked by journalists from respected Swiss weekly magazine Motorsport Aktuell. They decided to calculate the costs that are necessary factory team to participate in one season, MotoGP and WSBK. Calculations were carried out under the condition that the goal of the team is fighting for the title. For the WSBK team needed a staff of 50 people, while the leading "stable» MotoGP require 130 employees.

All figures in the table below. The result was that participation in MotoGP motoproizvoditelyu costs about 3.5 times more than in World Superbike - both in view of the proceeds from sponsors (in MotoGP they are on the same 3.5 times more) and no external inflows. Total expenditure factory MotoGP team is 34 million euros per year, whereas in WSBK she will need at least ten million. That is the price of victory in two world motorcycle championships.

The cost of participation factory team in one season:

Motors 1,400,000 € 500 000 €

Chassis 1,500,000 € 500 000 €

Electronics 2,600,000 € 300 000 €

Racing Team 3,000,000 € 1,000,000 €

Test team 1,000,000 € 300 000 €

Total costs (gross) 34,000,000 € 9,600,000 €

Income from sponsors 14,000,000 € 4,000,000 €

Total costs (net) 20,000,000 € 5,600,000 €

did they average out the totals?? The rider salary seems a bit high unless you are using the alien's contracts.

I don't see Suzuki having a budget that high for MotoGP. I bet Ducati and Yamaha run a higher WSBK budget than Suzuki does with their GP team.

But yes, it does cost a ton more to run a faster lighter bike....with new equipment that may make it to a WSBK bike in a couple years.

If I understood it corectly, it was the costs of being a top team with a chance at the title, not the "also rans".

Is that per bike, or the factory team

so it was counting Repsol Honda, Fiat Yamaha, and Marlboro Ducati......and not Rizla Suzuki??

Wonder if it was counting Xerox Ducati, Yamaha, Aprilia, BMW and Ten Kate Honda in WSBK.....I can see that kind of money being spent from all those teams.
