Ok, heres the score:
One Man Teams
I thought long and hard about whether or not to let members choose 1 man teams, in the end, I allowed it in the way of having "spare riders", where a member can choose to fill the second seat spot with a 9 or 8 million spare rider. I think this way the competion has more possibilites and makes for a more exciting league, and I believe I made the right choice. I agree that the rules are somewhat misleading, probably because of my haste to launch the league - so apologies for that. However, the spare riders have been in since the start, and everyone has had the same chance to change their teams how they see fit......it would have been better if any queries had been brought up before the first race!
Just look at the diversity of the 1 man teams:
Top:
wroomer
LORIS CAPIROSSI
TECH 3 YAMAHA
DUCATI
Michelin
Bottom:
team livvi
VALENTINO ROSSI
CAMEL YAMAHA
NOT RACING
BRIDGESTONE
Now, who would have predicted that after a race!!? Surley Vale & Camel = Uber team & more points...........yet team livvi have zero points after round one (sorry to single you out here mate!).
I think Loris' domination of the weekend, race win, pole & fastest lap has compounded the results to make it appear 1 man teams have an advantage...............he just kicked ... and was the best points scoring rider!
Members who have no posts and entered the league
I wanted a league first and foremost for the solid members who come here week in and week out, as a way to build the community up even more and make the site more interesting! Secondly, it was to lure the 1000's of lurkers that visit the site but do not get involved or join.
It would be nice if the members who have soley signed up for teh league (which appears to be quite a % of the 67 teams) at least called in and said hello or thanks!
I did think about a minimum post limit about 2 weeks after I launched, and it was agreed by us that it would be unfair to change the rules.
Next season there will be a minimum quality post requirement before teams can be entered, it will put some people joing, but the forum is the heart at the end of the day!
Just remember folks, this is the first time I've ran a fanasty league............so dont go too hard, theres a hell of a lot of work that goes into this site behind the scenes!
Glad ya enjoying it doc! Did ya get the 72" screen then
ben you've done a great job with the league, just like the whole forum. thank's!

<{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Hey Ben, There's a lot of lurkers with teams and I can't help thinking what if someone with a total post count of ZERO wins? That's not really that fair to those of us who are proper members of this site, not just people who join to enter a team and get a free CYT cap.
I dunno, just dosen't seem right to me
ben i must agree with richo on the no posting thing... just don't seem fair.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>In all fairness, tha majority of the teams in the lead aren't playing by the rules anyhow, so if that doesnt matter than a zero-post-counter should be just as eligable to win.
I mean to have one rider instead of 2 or not have a team to get 2 dominant riders doesnt seem right when the rules clearly state:
You have $120 million, for which you
must buy 2 riders, a team, an engine and tyres.
Otherwise it would say you have 120 mil to buy whatever you can.
But i dont want to start a riot over it, it's just a game, but in all fairness its too bad everyone couldn't have just stuck to the rules
no belly aching general, it's just gettin started! we all had the same chance to choose how we chose.
