With one race down I can just say that this was a great idea...I have never been so involved in the races as I was today. Yelling at the TV screen and screaming at DePuniet's DNF. Having both Yamaha's tied up in that first turn incident didn't help me either.

Once again...So far so good.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (GeNeRaL @ Mar 26 2006, 08:58 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>well, i absoultely understand what you mean by -0- postcount, and i agree its kinda awkward, I just thought the rules of the contest were clear and if you look at anyone in the immediate top positions, their teams dont have one of each item, but rather they have like 2 great riders - no team or what not.

again, its really not a big deal, i just thought the rules were clear, but apparently i;ve just misunderstood.

no bigie, im still enjoying myself and realistically never thought i'd win this thing anyways lol
I hope this is not aimed at me,as I am near the top of the rankings
I did my best to stay within the spirit or the rules. but could not
find the combination that would allow me to have two riders
and stay under the 120mil.
If the powers that be think this is skirting the spirit of the rules
I will delete my team
Ed

Ed, it wasn't aimed at anyone in particular. Especially you. A 1 rider team is fine. That's why the spare slots exist. I wanted Rossi on my team, because the guy simply wins, and he wins a lot. But no matter what combination I tried I couldn't afford Rossi and another rider and a team, engine and tyres. There's nothing wrong with one rider teams. If its good enough for a legend like Kenny Roberts Snr, It's gotta be good enough for us, right?
<

By the way congratulations on the sucess of your team, and good luck for the rest of the season, mate
<

Thanks for the constructive General & richo!

Ok, heres the score:

One Man Teams

I thought long and hard about whether or not to let members choose 1 man teams, in the end, I allowed it in the way of having "spare riders", where a member can choose to fill the second seat spot with a 9 or 8 million spare rider. I think this way the competion has more possibilites and makes for a more exciting league, and I believe I made the right choice. I agree that the rules are somewhat misleading, probably because of my haste to launch the league - so apologies for that. However, the spare riders have been in since the start, and everyone has had the same chance to change their teams how they see fit......it would have been better if any queries had been brought up before the first race!

Just look at the diversity of the 1 man teams:

Top:
wroomer

LORIS CAPIROSSI
TECH 3 YAMAHA
DUCATI
Michelin

Bottom:
team livvi
VALENTINO ROSSI
CAMEL YAMAHA
NOT RACING
BRIDGESTONE

Now, who would have predicted that after a race!!? Surley Vale & Camel = Uber team & more points...........yet team livvi have zero points after round one (sorry to single you out here mate!).

I think Loris' domination of the weekend, race win, pole & fastest lap has compounded the results to make it appear 1 man teams have an advantage...............he just kicked ... and was the best points scoring rider!

Members who have no posts and entered the league

I wanted a league first and foremost for the solid members who come here week in and week out, as a way to build the community up even more and make the site more interesting! Secondly, it was to lure the 1000's of lurkers that visit the site but do not get involved or join.

It would be nice if the members who have soley signed up for teh league (which appears to be quite a % of the 67 teams) at least called in and said hello or thanks!

I did think about a minimum post limit about 2 weeks after I launched, and it was agreed by us that it would be unfair to change the rules.

Next season there will be a minimum quality post requirement before teams can be entered, it will put some people joing, but the forum is the heart at the end of the day!

Just remember folks, this is the first time I've ran a fanasty league............so dont go too hard, theres a hell of a lot of work that goes into this site behind the scenes!

Don't get me wrong, Ben, I really appreciate the work you've done and I'm not blaming you for all the "lurker teams", I was just pointing that out. And I'm glad to see you agree. And as for single rider teams, I don't think theres anything wrong with it. A wisely selected 2 rider team would be just as good, if not better than a one rider team. Anyway it allows for more variety in the teams, because we don't really want teams to be exactly the same, do we? That's why I had a panic reshuffle after Topcat Jnr entered his team.

Wise picks, little buddy
<

Yeah I agree with Richo Ben, you have done a grand Job mate
<

I would be interested to know if I have managed to lure any new members here from the other forums I visit??? Im using the siggy that links to my fantasy team BTW...

So if anyone has found their way here from DDUK, ShanghaiExpat, or altbinariesdvdr, I would be happy to know

Ben, thanks for the clarifucation. and no, it wasn;t directed at anyone in particular, just an observation.

I just read the rules and assumed to do as it said and didn't fully understand the whole spare rider thing.

I guess it evens itself out in the end at any rate.

Thanks again, Ben.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (GeNeRaL @ Mar 27 2006, 12:38 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>In all fairness, tha majority of the teams in the lead aren't playing by the rules anyhow, so if that doesnt matter than a zero-post-counter should be just as eligable to win.

I mean to have one rider instead of 2 or not have a team to get 2 dominant riders doesnt seem right when the rules clearly state:

You have $120 million, for which you must buy 2 riders, a team, an engine and tyres.

Otherwise it would say you have 120 mil to buy whatever you can.

But i dont want to start a riot over it, it's just a game, but in all fairness its too bad everyone couldn't have just stuck to the rules
<

Not to have a team ?! Isn't fair? It's not anybody's fault that some teams decided not to race!
I buyed 2 riders, a team, an engine and tyres. It's my fault that the the engine manufactures I chosed doesn't race anymore? By the way I made my team before I knew that they anounced that they are't racing. So where is your fair play spirit.?I actually enjoyed and I'm proud of my team. So now tell how should I feel about it? That this isn't fair that I got those ponts by breaking th e rules?

And it's just a game like you said and you should't offend others. At least I didn't felt good reading your post as well as others .
I might be wrong about that but I like to ask you (all of you) : If these teams were last and your's first would you have bringed up the subject? Let's not spoil this game and turn in a fight!

I agree that a person that have 0 post should't be awarded the prize but gave them a chance maybe they'll start posting.

P.S. Rossi's fan had bad luck. He will be back.Don't worry! But I hope that Capper can compete with him. Dani too!!
