Really want to make it this year. It's three weeks after my back surgery, but if it goes well and I get the okay from my doctor, I want to try and make it there. If not - Philip Island for sure.

That's a long way to drive a bullock cart from New Delhi, but I wish you all the best.

I guess Isle of Man is on my bucket list

With TV coverage of all sports as good as it is these days, I prefer to watch at home.

Fewer drunks, jerks, and sunburns.

Dude, nothing takes the place of live. More free vitamin D, more live girls and cold beer and ...... hotdogs taste great at trackside.

nothing beats seeing it live, and Austin has a great atmosphere lots to do away from the track, great bar scene, lots of interesting places to eat, and Texas has the most beautiful women in the world!

Having seen James Martin there, I have my doubts about the food. Me I can't eat hot spicy food, plus I don't like the beer, its like sugared water. As for the women, well I don't know but if they're anything like Rose McGowan then no thanks. BTW we have enough of them over here.

what kind of beer did you have? personally I haven't found to many Texas beers that I like, I am more partial to the Mexican beers.... as for the food, spicy...dont you mean flavor???

I hear you guys loud and clear about the women at the races. I really do. They are spectacular.
But.....I'm married, so , so much for that

The food? Yes. Very good.

I guess I just don't like big crowds or sunburns anymore. I used to go to a lot of airshows also, but I don't do that anymore either. I miss the SOUND of the machines though. Both the motorcycles and the airplanes.

I suppose I'm just getting old

Well I've been to Florida and a friend of our family there is a Texan, he makes some sorta flamethrower stuff called chili, damn me I lost my taste buds for a whole week. One beer that sticks in my mind is Coors, its like tom cats piss (I'm guessing there but it smells like it).
Me I like British bitter, with a strong hop flavour.

See chilli is about as authentic as you can get when it comes to Texan cuisine. As far as how spicy it is depends on what type of chilies are used (if any).... as far as beers go, Coors isn't really a Texas beer. Texas beers would be ZiegenBock and ShinnerBock, far better beer then Coors.

It would have to be a better beer, that Coors is really barrel scraping muck. The Chili was as far as I am concerned was 100% chili, if it had any other ingredients they were wasted LOL.
BTW how much alcohol do those beers have?

the alcohol in beer can vary depending on what state you are in, in Texas Coors would have 4.2%. the more religious states can cut that down a bit more. Texas is a bit more liberal when it comes to alcohol. There are plenty of beers you can get here in Texas with far higher alcohol percentages.

This is still a relatively new concept in the UK. I think they just introduced salt there in the last 10 years. :p

I can believe that, when I used to make my own it was around 1050fg so it'd get the Americans drunk on 2 pints ;)

Like hell it is! :yellowcard:

you can get stronger beers here in Texas but they are not going to be cheap. most bars will sell a pint of Coors for $2.00-2.50. where as ZiggenBock would be about 5% and sell for about $5.00, or a Spaten Optimator with is 7.3% here usually costs you $7-8.00

Getting back to Austin, its a small city that attracts a lot of people from around the world, and many of them are chefs or in the culinary field. for example Austin has one of the best Sushi places I have ever been to, I have also had some amazing Italian food down there.

Just takin' the piss M8. I've seen the Bourdain visits to the UK. I've been there twice. Once in '69 and again in '76. Back then the only thing (other than a full English breakfast) that was palatable was curry at a Pakistani joint I frequented in Southall where I stayed with a cute chick for a few months.

Does Wimpys still taste like ass? :(

Oh and the food in Ireland was much worse.

Gddrreat fuud in Edinburgh surprisingly.
