We've got no fewer than 15 pages about Rossi, his yet unknown replacement and speculation about the length of his departure from the series. While that's all valid, the close racing we've been missing from the premier class for years is now taking place regularly in Moto2! Dorna has and continues to make it's fair share of mistakes but Moto2 has to be considered a real success. A large grid, close racing and excellent TV coverage. SBK and now Moto2 are both routinely producing great races and more credit should be given to those series. Perhaps I'm not aware, but it seems that there isn't the kind of interest in the other classes and series that I would have expected from a collective board of "motorcycle racing enthusiasts"....... There doesn't seem to be any interest here for discussions of those series. Why I wonder?





How many of you regularly watch M2 and SBK? Impressions?
 
I would love to watch moto2 but unfortunatly enough none of the tvchannels here broadcast it. so in about 3 weeks I will be able to see my first, and last race of this season in assen.



as for wsbk, if I have time I watch it.
 
i always watch SBK and i've watched every Moto2 race this season except Mugello because only one guy puts the Moto2 race up on Racing Underground and i can't watch it for some reason. on VLC player i get a gray screen and sound, in Windows Media Player i get sound but no video. i downloaded the codec and the result was the same. so it looks like no Moto2 for me until someone else starts putting up the races or i figure out wtf the problem is. but i agree, the racing has been superb. there are a lot more boppers and glory hunters on this site then they let on. prestige is what matters to them. or Rossi.
 
I watch: WSBK, WSS, MotoGP, Moto2, 125, BSB and AMA. You're right in that Moto2 does kick the proverbial .... It's been some of the best (excitement wise) racing this year along with the DSB class in the AMA. There will always be those that are only interested in what is the top, they may simply not be interested in other series or just don't have the time.
 
I love moto2 I haven't missed a race or quali. The talent really shines in that class. If you were to ask my opinion, moto2 riders are going to be more than ready for motogp. Here are somethings I have noticed while watching.



Toni Elias- Not sure if any of you have heard of him

but he is good. By far the most talented rider on the grid.

Julian Simon-He will make it to gp sooner than later. Dude backs the bike up like his name was Barry ........!

Shoya Tomizawa- move over Hiro this guy is coming to steal your thunder. The Japanese ben spies.

Alex DeAngilis-Baahahahahahahahaha! One finish.

Alex Debomb, Julez Crashwell-still crazy.

Yonny Hernandez-Columbian rider, rides like McCoy

Scott Redding-GBR's next hope looks a lot like Toesland...........the tech 3 toesland. So yeah, not good.



I could go on and on. Start watching!

Moto2 is the epitome of bittersweet.



The racing boggles the mind, and nothing is more entertaining that seeing 40 guys from all over the planet, race on 14 different version of a Moto2 chassis. It is a spectacle unlike anything else in the world of motorcycle racing.



The engines are a knife to the heart, though. I know why they chose a spec engine--they needed to control costs, keep the Flamminis at bay, and keep the major manufacturers out of Moto2--but the spec engine just comes across as a genuinely lazy way to achieve those goals. In the end, I think the went spec b/c they don't have the personnel to do anything else. The MotoGP technical staff are overworked just trying to keep track of the 40 sealed engines in Moto2.



Moto2 should feature 100% prototype motorcycles.

And who would build these 100% prototype machines? The major manufacturers? Are there any minor companies even interested in building prototype 600cc engines to race in a world championship? What do you think the cost would be to do so? It seems to me we see 40+ riders in Moto2 because the formula is now relatively cheap compared to the escalating costs of running a 250cc team that was capable of winning.

The manufacturers are already building prototype 600s. I can hear the machines making parts and the benches taxing the engines right now. They are always building prototype engines. Why shouldn't Dorna/FIM entice them to move their facilities to the side of the track? Unfortunately, testing engines with lots of titanium, magnesium, and other exotic alloys at extremely high rpm is impractical. So make it practical.

good racing and competitive one race a riders up front the next there in 20-30th place
 
It seems to certainly have stolen the thunder from WSS. Have you seen the size of the WSS grid lately?

SImon Buckmaster says that IMS treat the teams rather poorly by offering a pittance to cover travel and transport for personnel and equipment. He has also complained that WSS runs too many sessions b/c the 600s are very tightly wound engines. They have shorter service intervals than Moto2 or WSBK.
 
I would suspect if there were more English and American riders on the grid there would be a bigger buzz about it at least on this forum. I keep saying that this is what motogp will look like if the Puig formula is continued. The racing may be good but it does not represent the diversity that is needed to grow it's fan base outside of Europe. Right now it's basically a Spain vs Italy cup.
 
Moto 2 is the bees knees................but with what unfolded at Mugello it seems that the big class will get very interesting from here on.

Maybe you're not aware we have Moto2 thread HERE and Superbike forum HERE. Many members are active on these topics...

i watch all the 125s, soon to be 250 4s, moto2 soon to be opened to other engine manufactures, nick & gav were talking about multiple engine manufactures coming in in 2011-2012, wss, wsbk, ama sbk & d-sportbike, speedway, iom, all mx & sx.... i would love it if we could get bsb here on hd channel!

Best news I've heard in a long time. I'm surprised to see that canceling my motogp.com subscription has finally had a few negative consequences. I'm interested to see how they will control the power. Rev limits seem like the only way, imo, b/c the 600s could spin to 18,000rpm if they had the proper valvetrain.
