I'm sure his size was hurting him on the few ridiculously long straightaways.

So much for my prediction of a Redding/Espargaro shootout. How much different a race makes, the championship looks far more open now.

Didn't really hurt him when he snatched pole did it?

Seemed like tyre problems to me for Redding.

It was Willski was sat with one of his crew on the flight from Austin to Chicago.

His front tyre was chewn after I think he said 6 laps.

He'll don better come europe.

And it can't be all that bad he's top o the tree atm ;)

Just watched properly

Terol has got his head round larger machines it seems,

So has Rabat!

Mika put in a great show as did Aegerter.

Good mix up to the first two races,

Should be an exciting season ;)

When Pol crashed, the way he was rolling on the ground did not look good at all, it looked like he hurt himself bad. Then I saw he had no boot on.... Then I hear he's OK.

????????????????

And a resurgent Mika Kallio as well. Always liked the mongrel in that boy (but not in a bestiality sort of way...) Two class seconds and a class third for KTM when they were really not expected to challenge Aprilia showed his mettle. Glad to see him back in the hunt.

I wonder how much the change in the rider+bike weight rules has had?

As to Redding, he slides the back around a lot - he eats tyres. He seems to be on the money for the first five or so laps, then he runs out of tyre and it's all over.

It looked to me like he was managing his tyre well, not sliding much, keeping in the groove, then he got passed and panicked and the old Redding came back, sliding for all he's worth and the tyres went bye-bye.

Judging by his pre-match riders briefing interview he knows he has issues with tyres - he is riding as hard as he can, as he says. But I guess the really good guys don't just ride fast, they preserve their machinery as well. If he can get that part of the equation sorted, he will be very effective. He certainly has the bottle.
