The World Superbike machine has docked at Autodromo Most in the Czech Republic for Round 6 of the 2022 season. Hickman will be racing for the factory BMW team, taking the place of Illya Michalchuk, who was filling in for the injured Michael van der Mark. Vdm has signed with BMW for the 2023 season. Rea has extended his contract with Kawasaki through 2024. Haslam will miss Most due to Suzuka 8 hour commitments with the factory Kawsaki team. Leon will be replaced by Ryan Vickers, though the young Brit has scored 1 point in the last 6 BSB races aboard his FHO Racing BMW. Certainly an interesting rider selection for Pedercini Kawasaki. Scott Redding is looking to maintain momentum after his encouraging results at Donington Park with the new swingarm. Garrett Gerloff is apparently looking outside of Yamaha, and rumors link him with the Bonobo BMW squad. Most of the rumor mill is currently revolving around whether or not Michael Rinaldi will remain with factory Ducati, or whether he will be sent packing for another rider, like Danilo Petrucci.

Raz led the early stage of FP1, until Rinaldi decided to put in a hot lap and he took the lead aboard the V4R. Rinaldi remained at the top until a flurry of late laps rearranged the top of the time tables. Bautista was using the development tire during FP1. He looked fast and comfortable, but the times were not competitive. Redding was in 3rd early in the session before plummeting in the late stages. Unclear what tire he was using.

Rea did his best Raz impression on the first lap of the session by doing a huge stoppie in the braking zone for Turn 1, but he got a bit too much yaw and had to run on. Interesting start to the session. Lecuona chucked it down the road and had a rough ride through the gravel. He was quite shaken.

Not sure how much can be gleaned from the times. The teams are conserving their X compound tires for later sessions, qualifying and superpole race. Redding looks good though.

Wow, I go away for a few days and come back to a whole new world. Great weekend at Most. Toprak on form but is it too little, too late? Superpole race was incredible. I could watch Rea and Raz go at it all day. Throw in Bautista and you've got a helluva show.
