From all indications, Bridgestone could have kept the tire contract had they wanted it. Now that they have announced their departure, the people who matter are trying to come to their defense. The riders to a man are not jumping for joy to see Bridgestone leave, they are aware of how good the product was. The teams are not happy, they will be spending tens of millions to develop new machines in the next few years. So, why are they leaving? Has to be bad publicity and 20 million in free tires, outweighs any advertising that DORNA has to offer. Who is to blame for unwarranted bad publicity, the media and the sheep fan who do nothing but look for negatives and conspiracies at every turn. The riders and teams themselves can also heap some of the blame for not informing the ........ segment of their fanbase of just how good the Stones were. The old saying "be careful what you wish for, you just might get it" has come home to roost. Lets hope whoever wins the bid, can bring tires that are close to equal to what Bridegstone supplied. Its going to be fun to watch the same old detractors ..... an moan with the conspirative ........ as performance and safety goes out the window.
