The 24 Hours of Zuera, on a Vespa!

This has nothing to do with GP, but since we were discussing fan commitment to the sport in other threads I figured I'd show you guys what I did this weekend! And more people will see and enjoy the scenery here!

50+teams from Germany, France, Portugal, Austria and Spain with between 4-6 riders totaling around 300+ riders. No spectator fee, and a friend of mine was competing.

LeMans start

Simoncelli, seen on a Vespa Endurance team. Must be in Heaven.

Pit stop on my buddy's team.

Light starts to fade and the headlights switch on

The rest are this morning around 11 AM with a hour left.

I had a great time! No queue/line at the ticket counter or entrance. No traffic! And cheap beer and bocadillos!

With a big bore kit, skimmed head, amal carb and expansion chamber exhaust you could get a decent amount of speed out of them things - still handled like a shopping trolley though and invariably seized due to people buggering around with the engine cowling.

Good on ya dude, so much better than been a couch potato at home.

My wkend was at WSBK Donington and would post some pics too if the damn editor would let me.

Gave up trying ages ago!

Hope you had as big a blast as I did

Batturo, one of the best posts I have seen on here for a long time.

Pure racing. This is awesome dude. I hope this event keeps going. Eveyone has fun, everyone has a laugh, and is the end probably doesn't even matter too much who won.

Can't believe the guy on the orange Vespa getting his knee down (photo with the lights on).

My friend ran the final stint. He told me it was amazing. At the end everyone is so exhausted and used to seeing each other on the track that friendships had grown without even speaking. In the final half hour, as you pass or get passed by someone it is all smiles and thumbs up. At the chequered flag, all the participants feel like winners after 24 hours of Vespa madness.

Forgot to mention that this SMELLED like real racing too!

Do they run Castrol R in them!?? That would be the real thing!

Looks like fun.

I was taking a leasurely ride out along a back road here and I got on a ferry to cross a river. About 6 Lambrettas got on also.

When we got off I thought I had better give it a bit of stick to get away from them and not get caught up with there shenanigans and "uncool Lambrettaness".

I eased up a bit when I thought I had pulled away ( so folk would see I was not with them and their uncoolness ), next thing they scream past me doing 140kph each with a passenger on!!

Sounded great too. ( As Garbin suggested, these things had a chamber and even though they looked like granny would ride them they flew. )

My manhood suffered a huge blow

Just like at the Classic racing in this country. the last time I was there I was sat having a beer with my friend who races.

It was the first evening and before long we had a group some 30 people strong just chatting drinking and taking the piss out of each other (mild yanking of each others chains). It was a great night.

Next morning I realized I'd been sat drinking with all the riders from the 750 and 1300 classes.

Its such a friendly place to be,

Asd as a result made loads of new bike nut mates. Life's Good!

And it smells like real racing too!!!

I've always wanted a Vespa, and after viewing those pics I want one more than ever

(no place to store it though, it would be stolen within a weeks time)

Nice pics!
