I had watched the post race Lorenzo show and didn't read into it at all. I should have paid more attention. Melandri noticed a couple of things about Jorge's little skit.

Poached from Gpone:

"In Italy they have a unique way of presenting bike racing to the general public: when Valentino wins and stages a celebration, it is an incredible show. But when others do it, they downplay the whole thing... hmmm!!!

Lorenzo's celebration was serious stuff, with a subtle yet biting message that only some will pick up on. Did you get it? Let's take a look at it together.

When I rode by on the cool down lap, I saw Lorenzo sitting in front of the video screen and my first thought was: 'He is enjoying the sight of his own victory.' But noooooo!!!

Taking a closer look at it, you start to see more: the chair was yellow... like Valentino's yellow... which would say: "I, Lorenzo, am taking your place on your yellow chair." Am I sitting down with the popcorn to enjoy my spectacular victory???"No, I am sitting here watching you cross the finish line, because I already passed it..." Valentino's statement: "I did it ten years ago"... Weak... followed by: "Now, with spec tires, the rider can't make such a difference." This is down to the fact that they don't make tires anymore just for him...

This statement is meant to say that maybe Michelin, in 2004, had more than a small hand in the results. More like an arm.

I don't want to say that anyone is right or wrong, but only put forth my theory that aliens don't exist.

Always nice so long as things are going our way, we are all human beings with our pros and cons. I really want to see Valentino on the Ducati next year, but I think it is more likely he would go to Formula 1!

Not because the red bikes aren't competitive; I actually think they are much more competitive than you think. It is just hard for him to leave Lorenzo alone on the Yamaha, now that the bike has an incredible balance. It is too, too, too large a risk."

All that because Lorenzo had a yellow chair? It's a little thin Marco.

I'll argue that Jorge's little post race skits are well thought out and rehearsed. His attention to detail is spot on. He knows Rossi likes to play mind games, I'll jump on the bandwagon that this was a

shot across Rossi's bow. We'll see if Rossi responds to Jorge or Melandri...

i always assumed Jorge did what he did to make fun of Rossi and piss him off. don't know if it works on him but it sure works on the boppers.

Yes with the spec tyre the rider ie Rossi, can't influence the design of the tyre as much as he used to. He still can but just not as much!!!

Sour grapes. Melandri says aliens do not exist because he's not counted as one of them...

I hope Marco keeps improving his results and rely more on his exploits on the track to make headlines, rather than on these controversial intepretations on the rivalries, victories and celebrations of others...

Was Lorenzo saying Rossi's career is Drowning when he jumped in the pond at Jerez? I highly doubt it, I don't think the yellow chair had much to do with it. Marco is right about Rossi not going to Ducati , Valentino and Jeremy are already too late into their careers to try and develop a new bike, while Lorenzo and Spies would be very dangerous on the Fiat M1. I rather see the doctor behind the wheel of an F1 car myself

I said this in the Le mans thread
I think Jorge's celebrations are mind games. He is trying to get into Rossi's head like Rossi has got into so many other riders heads. It's like he is saying "move over, im the next you". Todays were he sat in a deck chair and watched the other's still racing on the big screen. Thats like saying "im so much faster than you i can win and have time to watch you lot still fighting". I don't think Lorenzo is like the others in the past. This bloke is thick-skinned, arrogant and is very driven towards his goal. The quality''s needed to win a championship. At last we have someone who can shrug off rossi's mind games and play his own right back. I think were in for some epic battles between these 2. Both dont mind swapping a bit of paint unlike dani and casey. Such a shame it will all come down to engines in the end.
Geez compa, this is eerily close to what Melandri said. Are you guys hanging out together, or was that article a miss-credit, perhaps they should have said: Chopperman said:...

Anyway, I don't think Melandri is too far off on his analysis thought he does have a fantastic imagination. For me its great to see somebody giving the Doc some of his own medicine.
<
<
However, Lorenzo will increase the pressure on himself, and if he doesn't continue his Hollywood sequence, the movie he was watching will quickly turn into a horror film with Rossi as the monster.

Like I said, I think that's pretty thin, it's not like he's pulling the head off a chicken (mascot that is) or setting a 46 flag on fire, kicking a stuffed Bulldog around the gravel. Which frankly is what I would do in his position. Either be direct or don't bother, a yellow chair, honestly?

I'm curious what Rossi will do for a celebration when he wins at Mugello.
<

Take a dig at Lorenzo perhaps?

Firstly, remember Melandri is a good friend of Rossi's for many years. A lot of these exuberant post race celebrations have hidden or in some cases not so hidden
<
meanings behind them. Either to get in an opponents head or even disrespect your employer as was with some of Rossi's in the past. Lorenzo's was pretty blatant and obvious to me even without noticing the yellow chair.

Surely the entire point of any celebration is to have a dig, I just don't buy the yellow chair.

Disagree mate. I can think of many that were not digs or mind games and many that were. I must say though this could add a bit of spice, As boots said, What will Rossi do if he win's Mugello

i cant wait to see.

I completely agree, nothing like behind the scenes drama to add to the experience. Interested to see the pre-race press conference video from today...

Rossi will be seen sitting on one of these.

HAHAHA, that would be funny. He could sit in that chair while wiping the sweat off his brow with a lorenzo land flag, then just chuck it to one side. Like Ricky using one of Trevor or corys shirts
