Marshalls are NOT there to assist riders to push start them or help them pick up thier bikes after they crash. if they cant do it themselves then they should be out.

talk about rider aids.

Because it's really safe to let the rider stand in the run off trying to move the bike while the field continues on in anger. Have you ever watched a race before? If the bike can run, marshalls will push the rider so he can rejoin. I mean honestly, have you ever watched a race before?

1. your a twit

2. other riders have "chocked" as you call it..........

3. maybe marshalls should'nt assist at all then, like when some one has a serious accident maybe instead of running to help them they should just stand there and say " bah he doesnt need any help he can get himself up"

4. maybe they should do away with medics and the doc to cos they arent there to assist are they.....

5. what about the pitt crews are they there to assist?

over the years i have seen marshalls help many riders not just the ones you dislike.......

In all the race meetings I have worked as a marshall we are told that we are not to place ourselves in danger to get to or assist a rider.

But, I do know that the MotoGP marshalling is different as they have different 'corner crews' for different tasks. There are the flag marshalls, recovery marshalls, medical marshalls etc.

From my understanding the 'recovery marshalls' have the job of clearing the bike debris from the scene and if that means it can be restarted and the rider resume, than so be it. To me, if a rider can benefit from this work, then it is acceptable and not against any rules.

Edit: True Story.

I know of one 'recovery marshall' who has a collection of bike bits from various MotoGP/WSBK meets that they have worked and he has each labelled with teh dat/time/rider etc

well said. they are NOT there to help riders restart. but they do it coz they want to be heros. they are only there to give immediate medical aid, assist rider and bike off the track.

Actually a technicality.

In the case of Rossi last night, the bike does not appear to stall and therefore did not need a restart (much the same as it appears in the clip posted of Stoner).

IMO, picking the bike up does not constitute assistance to restart and whilst certainly a push may, it could also be said that the sooner the rider is underway the safer the corner/incident becomes for all concerned (riders and marshalls). Besides, if the engine has not stopped there should be no issue.

i saw that he did. just that it's too heavy for one to be able to get it straight up again, hence why the marshalls helped him.

well theres not a lot to grab hold of on a race bike you jerk, no sissy bar ect to grab hold of. if he grabbed it by the plastic he would rip it off.. see you have never ridden a race bike !

So is Stoner bcos the marshal in the link I posted earlier had to help him pick up his bike too

Nice try go away for another few hours and try to think of something else to throw

Well if you want to get all wanky about it, you never said if it was to happen in a race or not, the fact remains Stoner has used the "rider aid" and I'm sure he would use again if he found himself in a similar situation during a race
