Lorenzo: I would welcome him with open arms hugs and kisses.
Rossi: he should stay retired.
Pedrosa: he loves being retired.
Marquez: he can't develope the bike for me, so Honda wants him to stay retired.

Sounds like three of them are afraid of having to actually compete against someone they know to be better.

Isn't that the sign of greatness, wanting the best challenge?

Obviously the bike didn't guarantee podiums as dovi could barely do it. And right now Marquez is making it look like it can't, too. Of course I don't think they built the bike towards Hayden and you know that I came no where near close to saying that, I said even though the bike may be built towards your strengths, that won't make that bike and rider combination necessarily any better as the bikes are all under the same formula. Honestly, during that time was when Hondas rcv was probably at its worst so far during pedrosas career as I honestly think building a machine towards somebody's strengths doesn't really ever work out.

Just look at rossis Yamaha in 2008 until 2011. Was meant for Rossi's "style" and Lorenzo came and made it work for him better than it did for Rossi on countless race weekends, even if Rossi managed to come out on top at the end. And if I remember correctly spies had quite an agressive style yet he made the yamaha work for him for the first two years of his career, almost winning three races (breakdown in Indy and stupid loss to stoner in Valencia) along with multiple podiums even though its for a supposedly smooth riding style. And Casey stoner had a sliding style, yet made the Honda work for him and pedrosa does not slide much at all.

Dovis star is not rising. It just makes him look suddenly really good because hes doing well on a bike that previously looked awful the year before. He's yet to really even seriously challenge for a victory this year.

Recall how well Dovi did when he was Dani's teammate. People pretty much unanimously opined that Honda was dialing back his bike in order to keep Dani higher in the points, borne out by how much faster his bike was when Pedrosa was out with injuries and Honda wanted to accrue constructor championship points. The Ducati while doing well in the horsepower department is still (in it's current iteration) in it's infancy development-wise and will require time to be seriously competitive with the Honda and Yamaha which have had many years to be refined and massaged. Given their state of development - Dovi is doing a remarkable job.

Very funny. :p

Here I was, reading this cool thread after having stumbled upon a long-lost bookmark. It's good to see you and Kesh and Arrab and the others chatting and hashing things out as before. Think I'll stick around and maybe get back into the MotoGP thing again.

'Bout ....... time you got back here!

Rossi is more ..... than goat

Lex, in your absence, did u happen to contest Last Comic Standing?

No, but I did go to an off-broadway production called Turtles, which, from what I can gather, is just Cats for bald, spectacled has-beens with shiny heads. Anyway, Ezpeleta was playing the principle soubrette, and I realized that MotoGP is actually pantomime space opera. The riders are the astronauts Spain never had, and never will have because they are too busy sleeping. Secretly, the Spanish heart yearns for a great champion who can go fast enough to slip from terra firma and achieve low-earth orbit.

I've been taking MotoGP waaaaay too literally.

Bravo, bravo Lex. BTW how are your elaborately decorated boots?

Dead as a doornail. They have an unconditional repair guarantee, but they waste all of your time upselling new boots. Gotta find an expert leatherman, if they are going to live again.

Fancy the leather do we?
