Following his return to Italy an MRI scan has revealed a break in his left ankle, the result of a high-speed Laguna Seca crash where he secured a 10th grid position.

A post race quote from Melandri,
"On 5th, 6th lap i had pain in my ankle so i couldnt down shift so good"!!!

What!

Despite this Melandri rode through the pain to a 3rd place position, securing his title has one of the toughest men in motogp.

'Flashback' to the days of 'minimoto' Melandri used to outride Rossi in races (like the tongue twister? well an attempt at one any way!)

With a Ducati factory ride secured for 2008 an 'Italian rider' on an 'Italian bike' sound familiar!?

Could this mark a turn of fortune for the Italian pair?

Will he replace the affection held in the hearts of many Italians for Valentino?

With the possibility of extrovert Lorenzo replacing Edwards as Rossi Yamaha Team mate!

Will we see a totally different Rossi in 08?

Laid back and fun?

I doubt it!

Stressed out and desperate?

A possibility!

I think next year will be very interesting for Melandri-Stoner-Ducati.
Melandri will have quite some pressure on his shoulders as all of the eyes of the Italian media will be firmly fixed upon him as he seeks to show his full potential. The way it looks right now the Ducati/Bridgestone team will be World champs in 2007 and thus Meladri will be on the best team with the best tyres.

So... let the pressure begin. Melandri on the same bike that CStoner has dominated and shocked the world.

Melandri should be beating the crap out of the everyone including Rossi and Stoner. What happens when he does not.
Remember that Melandri lost his way with Gresini. He had lost the confidence that he was a fast rider. So... does this highlight a small ..... in his mental armour. I know that Rossi will try to exploit any weakness that anyone may have. This includes Melandri.

Right now, I think that pressure will be on Ducati
The pressure will be between Stoner and Melandri.

Rossi may just soak up the atmosphere to his advantage.
Then again He may be under pressure himself as he will not ahve made it to the championship top step in two successive years.

ThusRossi may crack next year.


But I digress. Melandri is the BIONIC Man.

I can't wait to see him on the Ducati, but let's see him do some more great things on the Honda.
