Dani Pedrosa says he has yet to receive a 2010 offer from Honda as rumours that Jorge Lorenzo will join the team from Yamaha next season continue to gather pace.
Lorenzo's future has been a hot topic in recent weeks, amid suggestions that he was unhappy with the financial proposal that he had received from his current team and was considering a big offer from Honda.
AUTOSPORT understands that Lorenzo is now close to a deal to leave the team that brought him into MotoGP and join Honda, raising doubts over Pedrosa's future at the Repsol-backed squad.
When asked about his contractual situation by reporters at Donington Park, Pedrosa replied: "Honda hasn't made any offer to me."
Sources indicate that Pedrosa could have options at Yamaha or Ducati if his long relationship with Honda ends after this season.
Current Yamaha number one Valentino Rossi said he would have no objection to the Spaniard joining him at the team.
"He would be another team-mate difficult to beat, but I've always got on well with Pedrosa, we have a good relationship, so it would be more or less the same," said the world champion. "They'll figure out what to do."
Former factory Yamaha rider Colin Edwards has also been linked with a return to the works squad after two seasons at Tech 3. But Rossi said it mattered little to him whether he was paired with Lorenzo, Pedrosa or Edwards in 2010 - especially as Yamaha has run with a dividing wall in its garage since Rossi and Lorenzo used different tyre brands last year.
"The way the team is organised now, it doesn't change much for me," he said. "If Lorenzo stays it's fine, if Pedrosa arrives it's fine, and if it's neither of them I don't know who might arrive.
"Obviously with Colin we've been team-mates for many years, so I'd be happy, but this decision is up to Yamaha and the rider [who would arrive].
"In my opinion, at the moment, every rider would like to ride a Yamaha in the works team, because our bike is quick."
