Spain's Jorge Lorenzo aims to extend his world championship lead on Sunday by snatching a first career Czech Grand Prix MotoGP victory.
The Spanish Yamaha rider takes a 72-point lead over compatriot Dani Pedrosa on a Honda into the event as the second half of the season kicks off following a three-week summer break.
"I love the Brno track. I have won there three times, but never in MotoGP. I've never even made the podium," said Lorenzo, refreshed after spending his vacation in the Caribbean.
Lorenzo won at Brno in the 125cc class in 2004 and then the 250cc division in 2006 and 2007, victories which helped him to back-to-back world titles in the sport's second tier contest.
In the MotoGP race last year, Lorenzo failed to score a point after failing to finish following a nasty crash although he did have the consolation of breaking the track record.
Lorenzo has been the dominant force in this year's championship, winning six of the nine races so far, a performance which has put world champion Valentino Rossi in the shade.
Rossi's hopes of lifting another world crown were shattered when he missed six weeks of the season after breaking his leg in a horror fall at Mugello in June.
As a result, Rossi is back in fifth place, 120 points behind his Yamaha teammate in the standings.
But the Italian has been widely-praised for his performances in his two comeback races, finishing fourth in Germany and third at the US Grand Prix at Laguna Seca.
"I've had a good break and it's helped me a lot to have this time to work on my physical condition," said Rossi, who took his first world championship win at Brno in the 125cc class in 1996.
"I'm feeling good about my leg and my shoulder and I hope that this weekend I'll be feeling much stronger. Brno is a great track for me and it's always special because it's the first place I ever won at," added Rossi, who also has five MotoGP wins at the circuit, including the last two seasons.
Just like Rossi, France's Honda rider Randy de Puniet is set to make a return to action just four weeks after breaking his left leg at the German Grand Prix.
