Least slow Japanese guy?

How the heck else could Aoyama pick up that ride?

your point?

but yeah its got nothing to do with the fact that hes the last 250 champion and whooped simoncellis ... there and would probably have done just fine if he wasn't injured all season

1 word Japanese Honda Zuki Yam.

they fooked the format up they cant allow a grid without a Japanese rider or they'd have fooked that up too.

the Japanese manufacturers need a Japanese rider on the grid nuff said

Don't you watch the lower classes?

Didn't you see Aoyama winning the last 250cc World Championship?

Didn't you see him using the advantages of his Honda to beat the likes of Barbera, Simoncello and Bautista on their factory Aprilia's (which had dominated the class since 2006)?

Did you even watch this season in motogp for that matter?

+1

On a very inferior machine none the less. The dude is a rookie and he broke his back, give him a break. It is obvious motodink that you have never watched the 250 class.

THere have been flashes of talent this season, but it has been hidden by his injury and absence those few races. See how he does in 2011...then i will agree with you.

Like others said, you don't win the 250 title if ur not a great rider

I too thought it was cool what he did with the 250 Honda.

This years pts:

Aoyama = 53 (nearly the bottom of full time riders)

Next Honda = Melandri at 103

Kallio = 43

Not super impressed with him this year, and surprised other people are. Also surprised how quickly things get personal around here. Do people on here find that there are a small number of people throwing personal and emotional reactions at each other over and over?

No, but there are also flashes in the pan. Manuel Poggiali, anyone?

Aoyama also missed six races because of injury. Rookie seasons are usually too small of a sample size to gather a rider's potential. All the more difficult when one misses a third of the season through injury. I'm not his biggest fan, but it's too soon to judge either way.

Why would ethnicity imply the inability to ride a motorcycle fast? OP needs to layoff the stereotypes.

Although I don't see Aoyama doing much of anything on a sat Honda and I don't rate him that highly, Simoncelli is the one I see with potential and he won more races in that final 250 season than Aoyama and he could have bagged that title if not for his DNFs judging from his other finishes that season.

Motostink, r u aware of the mans injury? It seems u missed the major event of his season while u googled a failed attempt at making a case against him while posting points. Look, Rossi missed 4 races for a straight forward broken leg, and claimed to b bothered by a shoulder. Now consider thwe number of races Aoyama missed and the nature of his injury. Ur premise was ignorant and lame. Dont go getting butt hurt because u came on making ur own dig on a rider who earned his way into MotoGP while having the bad luck of suffering what mite b a career ending injury. Yes, the man is still riding through pain.

Ah yes, his title in 250s had zero to do with it. Tell me Pig, what do the following riders hav in common: Rossi, Melandri, Lorenzo, Capirossi, Pedrosa, Simoncelli? Oh yeah, they are all 250 champs. Ur post semi agreeing with motostink is equally lame. Nuff said.

I think one Japanese rider who did actually earn his spot is the least of the grids problems considering there are 4 riders out of a 17 rider grid who are not Italian, Spanish or American.

I think Dorna should be force feeding as many nationalities into the pipeline at 125 and Moto2 so we get some more variety finding its way through to MotoGP.

I bet the "least slow Japanese guy" will beat the slowest Italian, Spanish and American at least once in 2011.

Simoncelli is the one I see with potential

I think most of us would agree that we think Simocelli is the 250cc rookie we see with the most potential in the long term, but even he took two thirds of the season to get to grips with his bike (a factory Honda too), so it's hardly surprising that Aoyama, with a broken back, on a satellite bike has a disappointing points tally this year. He has done enough to be here and deserves AT LEAST next year to prove himself.
