Legendary Californian track Laguna Seca will make a welcome return to the World Superbike calendar next year.

The Monterey Peninsula circuit will host WSBK from next season through to 2015 and next year's race will be over the weekend of September 27. It last held the championship in 2004.

"We are absolutely delighted to be returning to Laguna Seca for the US Round for the first time since 2004. Over the ten-year period in which we were last there, we witnessed an extraordinary growth in interest and in overall attendance and we are sure that this event will once again become one of the most prestigious on the calendar," said WSBK boss Paolo Flammini.

"The return of Laguna Seca to the Superbike World Championship, with its six competing manufacturers, will definitely be a boost to the championship's growth in the US market as California has a special tradition and offers significant opportunities for the motorcycle industry, sponsors and media."

I'm pleased - WSBk always produced close racing here - lots of great memories. My first visit to Laguna was for WSBk in 2002. Two U.S. GP's and two rounds of Superbike - 2013 could be an expensive year Jum.

September as well as July!!!......Sackwack.........Sacky?.........Sack?..........Sackwack?.......hello?

I didn't see this one coming, and frankly, I don't know what to make of the news. Should I be happy? I've been twice to see Wsbk at Miller, a beautiful place and awesome track, and I wouldn't want to see it go in place of Laguna. I'm also fearful that Dorna will try to eliminate Laguna, they they seem to trend away from Wsbk tracks. I like Wsbk, no doubt, and had Nicky and Spies made the jump, I would have bought my early bird tickets, but I'm a bit nervous about what this may mean for the future.

So...anybody want to meet up for Wsbk Laguna Seca?

Sacky?

motogp laguna and Indy are both signed until the end of 2014

WSBK Laguna is there until 2015.

I honestly think that Motogp in Laguna is a waste unless they bring moto2/3 along.

We agreed for miller at shiverstone WSBK but I'd swap for Guna if the majority agreed.

Hey Shovel you up for one?

Be good to sink a few brews together again

Haha, u guys kid, but when Rog came to Las Vegas, a town in the middle of the Nevada desert, it ....... rained.

Well, it should be fun seeing everybody scratch their heads, looking up at the sky and wondering, WTF is that?

I wanna go to Barber. It's been highly recommended to me. Might have to settle for Laguna though

.. I'm an hour and a half away.. and never seen world sbk in person.. count me in!.. do you think they'll bring the haybales back too?

.

I may have to go check this one out. Never been to a WSBK race.

Sack - its better than a weekend away with miss world WSBK will leave you breathless compared to motogp. They race and strategise for 2 races (in one day!) + some 600's that go like stabbed rats.

More of a "bike" crowd (at least here in the southern Isles). don't miss out.

Count me in as interested. Are ticket packages generally cheaper for WSBK than MotoGP? Not that going to see MotoGP at Laguna excites me given that the entertaining racing currently is in the lower classes that don't even race at the track.

Having notably failed to attend even a single PS meetup

I'm not one to talk, but i gotta ask: Have you ever been to an event at 'Guna?

When I lived in SLO county (Paso, Atascadero and SLO at various times) I went to at least one bike event a year. I saw Schwantz and Rainey battle on SB and later 500cc machinery. Watched Mamola and Robert and Baldwin screw around and rip up the AMA. I enjoyed Lawson's premiere win, and more.
