Not just yours my friend. Even though the pic quality sucks on this one, its clear to see from the double handed embrace and the conveying body language from the two men meeting Mr. Rainey, that they know they are meeting somebody very special.

Click on this pick and zoom in and you can see that these guys know they are privileged.

Actually, I think its pretty cool that people like these two guys, who are at the highest echelons of the sport, and peons like us who are mere spectators, have the same reaction meeting such a man.

The stuff of legends

definetly those guys didnt even turn around to see or even direct a word to us when we walked into the ducati garage on the thursday before the race. they did say one thing to us! "no pictures of the bike while it is open" to them i was like the janitor of the track and Rainey the CEO

Noodlerizer's buddy Josh also ran the AMA's Daytona Sportbike class. (Hey Noodz, tell us how he did.)

Josh (in white leathers) good guy, we spent some time talking with him since he was pitted next to Noodz. You can't really see his bike but it had a very cool wrap livery.

Okay here is Josh's report from Laguna.

Press Release: For Immediate Release

Great Results for Slednecks Rider Josh Galster, Recently Returned from Injury

July 5th 2009-Monterey, California-Slednecks Racer Josh Galster enjoyed great results in the 7th round of the AMA Daytona Sportbike Class held at the famed Mazda Laguna Seca Raceway.

This was Galster’s first official AMA national race after a lengthy recovery from a life-threatening crash that occurred 10 months ago at Road Atlanta. There, Galster broke the C2 vertebra in his neck and badly damaged his wrist and hand.

After extensive wrist/hand surgery, wearing a halo and then a hard brace to heal his broken neck, and with intense physical therapy to improve the mobility in his wrist, Galster was given the go ahead to begin riding and racing again.

Returning to coaching at the California Superbike School gave Galster some time to get back the feel of riding, and after working a series of schools at Miller Motorsports Park, he drove his van and trailer up to Laguna Seca for the 4th of July AMA/Moto GP Race weekend.

During the Friday’s afternoon practice, Galster took his time getting the 2007 Kawasaki ZX6 up to race pace while working with Mike Pesicka and Ryan Spencer to set up for the challenging Laguna Seca circuit. After an hour-long practice session he was running a 1:35.797 and was gaining confidence.

Saturday’s late morning practice gave the team time to make some adjustments to the front end of the bike. Come qualifying, Galster was disappointed with a 31st finish with a time of 1:33.955. He was set to start on the outside of the 16th row for the side-by-side rolling start.

Throughout the cool, foggy Sunday morning practice, Galster was not able to improve on his qualifying time but did make a few changes to his riding and was ready to step things up during the race.

The race began and as Galster was settling into a rhythm, a red flag appeared with 12 laps remaining in the 23 lap race, the result of a multi-bike collision in the corkscrew. The race resumed after a long clean up and Galster continued to dice it up with a few riders he had been racing against earlier. Galster moved up several places from his qualifying position and with the laps counting down tried to make a pass into 21st but was unable to make it stick.

He finished 22nd with a best time of 1:33.641, a successful finish for his first race back after such a devastating crash. Galster looks forward to the remainder of the season and would like to thank Ryan Spencer, the Presting family, the Luciano family, and Mike Pesicka, as well as Slednecks, EDR Performance, California Superbike School, Bazzaz Performance, Arai, LeoVince, Lockhart Phillips, and all his family, friends, and fans.

Dude! i did not know this about this guy, He looked ok to me was really nice to us (maybe because we were friends of Noods) but wow to come back from that is really admirable. Ill be following his results from now on I wish him the Best as well to our very own Noodleizer. Keep the privateer dream alive!!!

You hit it on the head there Jumkie. It's great to see the respect that is given to the legends.
Another story from Laguna 06 that is similar.
Honda was having an autograph session in one of the tents. Signing was Nicky, Pedrosa,
Freddie Spencer,KR and I can't remember who else. At this point all you really knew about
Pedrosa is that he was a great rider with that seemed to have very little personality. My opinion about him at that time was that he didn't seem to be a bad guy but I didn't really like him because
he didn't seem to ever have emotion about anything.
As he and Nicky were introduced to the room Pedrosa was his typical stand there show no emotion self while Nicky was obviously happy and very gracious to the crowd.
As I was watching him, all the while my opinion was getting lower, Freddie Spencer was introduced
and Pedrosa's face immediately lit up as he watched Freddie approach. It was clear that these 2 had never met. Freddie took his spot and Pedrosa went over to him and the 2 exchanged words.
Pedrosa's was clearly exited to meet one of the legends. You could see he showed deference to
him just the same as you or I would.
At that moment my opinion of Pedrosa went way up. It showed me that he was not the uncaring
emotionless prick I believed he might be. He was just like us and he understood the place of
those that came before him.
Sadly history played out and any good will I may have witnessed was surely erased some 2 months later.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Jumkie @ Jul 10 2009, 11:54 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Ok, (Hey Ooost, I think you'll like this one too).

So if you've ever been a racer, you'll know there is plenty of down time between practice and race sessions. So the riders usually sit around doing .... to pass the time. You can imagine all the .... that goes down, I for one would be with every umbrella girl I could get into my motorhome. But that's just me. Anyway, so Ben Bostrom is hanging out with a friend of a friend (this is how I heard the story, believe me, the AMA is a small world, if you know any racers personally, you pretty much get to meet them all eventually). It’s a down time and Bostrom is getting his gear ready for the race coming up. BTW, Ben Boz ran the Daytona Sportbike class at Laguna (he usually only rides the Superbike class). The reason being is because the powers that be are pushing to lift the profile of the Daytona Class, hence why he also ran the this class at the Daytona 200 (Laguna being also a high profile round).

Anywhoo, so the boys are hanging around and B.Boz asks his buddy who's kicking it with him, "Hey, can you get some white paint"? His buddy, thinking this is an odd request before the race asks, "Why the hell do you need white paint"? Bostrom reply, "Because I'm gonna paint one of my gloves white." At which the reply came, "Why the hell are you gonna paint one of your gloves white?" Bostrom; "Because I wanna be like Michael with one white glove!" He explains, "You know, I'm gonna do a Michael Jackson tribute!" So his buddy, laughing his ... off goes and finds him some white paint. They paint the right glove white and Bostrom tries it on. "Looks good." But then they realize that the other glove, still being the factory colors, doesn't let the white glove stand out. So at the track there is this artist, a guy like Burky, who paints these big ... portraits of riders (some of you might have seen them at the track). Anyway, Bostrom remembers that artist and tells his buddy, "Hey, you think that guy who paints those pictures has some paint that looks like skin?" Naturally it’s a WTF moment.

Bostrom explains, "I wanna paint my left glove the color of skin, that way the white glove will stand out more and I'll be just like Michael." So they go on a mission, explain the deal to the artist, the man complies and he starts painting his left glove the color of skin. He jumps on his bike and into the race. No ........! Hahaha, .... me!

I don't have a picture to prove it, but if you recorded the DSB race, twice you can get a glimpse of the gloves. At lap 10, he's motoring down the straight, and they do a close up of him. Pause it and you will see the white and skin glove. Again, at the end of the race when they are doing the race highlights, the very last image is of Bostrom getting a congratulations from his crew as he rides back to victory lane. You will see the white and skin glove.

Moral of the story? When you give props to MJ, good things happen. Bostrom won the race! Michael is surely smiling from above... (cue up Vince Price voice from Thriller: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA....HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Come on JohnnyK, if Bostrom can like MJ, surely you can give the man a pass, eh

(I doubt you're gonna find this story in any website, but you heard it here first).
Thanks for the Boz story Jum, you know I'm always up for a good one. And thanks for posting all the pics everyone. I need to get out there again next year, haven't been since 2005. Too long.

Good story JK. Even Pedrobot gives props to the legends. Nice to know. I think I'll promote the little ....... from, 'I can't stand him' up to 'I dislike him very very much'.
