I took several pics of this chick. I don't know what it was about her, but I was fascinated! Maybe it was her cool shoes.

hey jumkie, heres my long overdue reply. 6 months without my girlfriend so you can understand ive been pretty 'busy'. Im actually skimping out on helping her move house to write to you demanding m&%(&^(rs.

So for the narsty perspective..

Woke up at 4am in Sanfran/east bay after wisely abandoning party plans the night before. Still a catching up on sleep from the 13 hour flight from shanghai to sf, that cleverly skirts the arctic circle, ensuring that you dont get a wink of sleep as the sun sets and rises again only an hour or so later, scorching eyeballs and rousing noisy kids.

Bags packed and stacked we roll out of the bay and shoot down the freeway aiming for laguna by six. My girlfriend is enjoying the benefits of the Golfs cruise control. Shes had the car for two or three years and complained about the pain of her weekly three hour drives from chico to sf. "yeah i bet you wish you had cruise control" "Oh i think it does have cruise control" (a puzzled look) "You dont use it?" "I dont know how"... it took an unshaven aussie 15 minutes of driving the dead straight highway to say ".... this i bet its really easy" and 30 seconds later life was easy.

We hit a 'servo' (service station) for some petrol and beer. It took a good five minutes to buy the beer as I desperately asked anybody who entered the shop whether they knew if Bud Light was a light beer (aus jargon = low alc. content) in other words, total ...., or if it was a light beer, as in low carbo's (carbohydrates) in other words low taste, but easy to drink all day in the sun.

Bud light bought and fears of sobriety allayed we sped on to Laguna. Nearing the track I see more ducati 1098's than japanese hatch backs and i start convulsing in the passenger seat. Ive warned lauren about this. The kind of ...... up jabbering, yammering hysteria which is bound to come. Ive been away from my baby (a modded zx-12r) for a year. Ive been in a country that has more ferarri F430's patrolling the streets than most small countries but that has banned anything with two wheels over 150cc as dangerous polluters..

Now im floating around these dry but fertile hills, with the pacific in my nostrills and desmos in my eardrums. On the way down my gf has suffered through narstys rough guide to everything you need to know about everybody who counts in this race.

Vale because he is a ruthless genius like schumacher, except fun.
Stoner because he is a ufo in an unknown orbit.
Hayden because i want to be able to like americans now that i live here.
Melandri because there are still shreds of kawasaki in the paddock.
Vermi because he has kangaroos on his undies.
Cappers because old people need love too.
Lorenzo because he is a fast little .......
Toseland and edwards because they hate each other.
De angelis because his name sounds like dangerous.
Pedders because some arseholes think he can win (not a chance)

She listens because she just 'gets' sport, and as long as its explained she can get into anything. We circle the hills surrounding the track. The day is getting brighter, the bikes are getting louder. I am shouting at the window things like ....... gixxer blade ....... speed triple multistrada z-thou ....... 636, 1098, 1098, 1098, 848, 916, .... you CBR CBR GS1200, Buell, fazer, trumpy.. ....... ..... I need a bike.

My battery is dying and my stomach is howling. To be continued
