BTW, Cali Kid is spending the day with stars and legends of GP today. He scored a 1/50 ticket to the charity event put on by Randy Mamola. The cost for such a ticket is out of this world, but he scored because he knows people that know people. (Not sure if he's mentioned it, but CK is a chef to Hollywood, that's no BS). Lucky ........ We loaded his bike on his truck at 10pm last night at my pad, he drove all night to Laguna Seca. Can't wait to see his pics and hear his stories.

Thanks for the idea Fishy.

Others are probably circling the track to find the best spots and actually watch their idols while you brose through all your depot photos.

EPIC WEEKEND!!!

I left Thursday night about midnight. Drove all night, arrived at 6AM. Gates open at 7AM. Drank all day with the fellas, then partied at the campsite (almost finished the bottle of tequila day 1). Got a text from Clark at 9PM saying, "Hey, I decided to come on Friday, long story, don't have a place to stay, does your offer still stand"? So I meet up with Clark, have a few shots back at the campsite. Got very few Zzzz, then night owl/rooster crow AKA Cali Kid got us all up at 530AM to wash our ..... and head to the track (I guess forgetting that we were staying spitting distance from the ....... track and there would be no drive/ride required). Ate breakfast at our VIP suite (oh, despite what people say, gourmet caviar for breakfast is not all that its cracked up to be). Spent all day at the track, drank and got some "depot" pics. Met Noodlerizer, cool kid. Get my foot ran over by Mr. Rainey's wheel chair (will explain). Snuck into raceline (as usual). Got so buzzed at track that I blanked out at dinner time (will explain later, needless to say, the free booze at the VIP is a double edge sword). Went to town with the boys and continued drinking. Got drunk in parking lot then walked into clubs. Lost track of time, we didn't make the track curfew (they close gates at mid-night) and ended up staggering into Clark's hotel room (which turned out to be a luxury suite bigger than most people's apartments). Went back to the track in some pot-smoker's van (who drove through the canyon like that fool from A-team, if you don't know who A-Team is, I can't help you). Met up with Narsty who was hopelessly lost for an hour, met his beautiful girlfriend (umbrella girl quality). Got them both in with our tickets, parking pass, VIP hospitality--all for free, then continued drinking beer. Stumbled into a Capirossi/Vermi autograph signing session. Almost got into a fight for calling some guy's kid in Kawasaki t-shirt an "ugly mothatfuker" who was trying to cut in line (how was I to know his dad was standing next to me?). Went back up to suite to eat and watch warm up. Then went to Bridgestone's VIP hospitality (Cali Kid got us in with a smile (the old lady at the checkpoint had a thing for him). We were all having an epic weekend, that is until... Peders won. .... that midget! The universe must balance it self out I guess, so much fun must be balanced with a little bit of dejection. My buddy tells me he needs to be at work at 3 AM. ....! W go back to camp, load all our ...., drop him off at his pad 2:30 AM. I got home past 3:30, had to get up for work at 6. Three nights no sleep in as many days!

SO MY POINT.....I'll post some pics and stories when I wake up next Thursday. (Ok, maybe not that long, but at least 30 hours or so, TIRED AS ....!).

Here is a little taste:

Clark, Cali Kid, Noodler, and yours truely

Narsty all the way to the right. (How on God green Earth can such an ugly MF get such a beautiful girlfriend?) This poor girl is blind, eh. (Dazza, you were right, Narsty is a solid guy, thanks for the recommendation). This boy walked around with like 25 pounds of booze in his back pack, ....... Ozzies.

No, I didn't zoom in or crop, I actually took this pic this close. She said, "Would you like to take a pic of my eyes too?" I say, "not really".

Preview of titles of stories to come:

"Does your offer still stand?"
"Did you see Mr. Rainey run over my foot?"
"Rock the van!"
"Oh, so you haven't bought your tickets yet?"
"I want to make him of fan of actual Brits." (Edit: forgot this one)
"Is that your kid? .... NO, and if he was; I wouldn't claim the ugly mothatfuker!"

And others to be sure...

BUT FIRST, GOOD NIGHT!

Wowsers! What a weekend!

My family (crazy fake uncle, mom) and I were supposed to arrive at Laguna Seca on Saturday afternoon after a nice coastal drive up to Monteray. I booked a pricey non refundable suite at Carmel Valley Ranch (5 Stars) in preparation. By Friday morning, they'd missed their flights again (standby overbooked) and suddenly I didn't have to wait for anyone. So I decided leave a day early, and maybe take Jumkie up on his offer to stay at his camper. I went and picked up my bike from the shop (what can I say, it's a Buell) and got ready to change a flat tire, since service didn't have time. Magically, the tire, which was dropped off 3 weeks ago at 10psi was at full pressure and not leaking. Gamble gamble..I kept it on figuring I'd change it post trip (800+ round trip miles
<
. It lasted, but my luck wouldn't end there!

Well, since I'm habitually late, I left from San Diego 1pm instead of 10am. Took to BORING route I-5 to US 101, wore down the center of my tire tread, and couldnt feel my .... By the time I arrived it was after 9. Salinas was dark and cold by that time, and hadn't booked a hotel for Friday night. So I texted Jumkie, who I'd never met in person, asking him if his offer still stood. Gamble, gamble!

Jumkie could not have been more welcoming or patient. I called/texted him 10x finding my way to Laguna Seca. After sliding through gravel, around jubuliant campers, in the dark cold, there was Jumkie. Thanks to Cali Kid, who I'd seen with that infamous shirt at SoCal Ducati, he recognized me by my leathers and yelled CLARK! Phew! It felt like home already.

Next thing I'm shooting tequila with all the guys, prepping to re-watch Catalunya on BIG ... projector and just having a blast asking Cali Kid how he and Ivan let 2 hotties get away and where I could find them. No sooner than I sat down, two cops roll up. Good luck can't last forever, or so I thought. All they wanted us to do was turn off the noisy generator and wish us goodnite. Things had wound down by curfew, so we hit the sack.

WAH WAH WAH WAH! WHAT THE ....? 5:37am and somone's phone alarm goes off...

The Jack Ranch Cafe?? You came right through Paso then. Damn. Wish I would have know, we could have scrubbed the sides of your tires in with some nice backroads. I would never ride my bike from San Diego up I-5. Man that had to suck.

Next thing I'm shooting tequila...

Literally, about 5-10 minutes after Clark arrived!

7251:Clark_shot1.JPG]

It didn't take long to discover what Clark is made of, the guy is solid. After he debriefed us on the adventure of getting to Laguna, we watched the Catalunya race; of course, rewinding the last three laps while hooting and hollering.

Funny detail: when we were all tapped out (for the record, Cali Kid was the first to invoke uncle and said he was going to sleep); we all ended up winding down too. I tell Clark, hey man you can sleep on this bed. So he takes off his boots and lies down to go to sleep. I was about to turn off the lights when I realized Clark was still in his leathers. So I say, 'yo Clark, you wanna take off your leather so you can get more comfortable?' He looks at me, long pause and hesitation...then says, 'yeah, ok, that's probably a good idea.' Hahaha, ....... guy was going to sleep in his leathers without flinching!

I can NOT overstate this next point enough: Through this forum, I have met very remarkable and decent people who rank up there with the most exceptional friends I have privilege of knowing; Clark is the newest edition! I’d say like the other members I’ve met, we have made friends for life.
