Actually you get the award for dumbest post on this thread by far.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Babelfish @ Jul 4 2009, 03:48 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>I don't know. Considering how touchy Stoner are about other riders I found his behavior very strange or more correctly more of the same frustrated Stoner we saw at Assen. First of all, it certainly looked like a show. What the heck did he hope to find out? And even if he's off line it was quite different from an ordinary slow down lap with him going very slowly and at the replay it certainly looked like the worst move during the qualification, not counting the crashes.

He can see if his tire is lose or out of alignment for starters. Are you just a mechanic or do you ride as well. Obvisouly it's just speculation going off the violent shake he gave teh bike afterwards.

You can easily tell from all angles that he is well off the race line on the very right hand side of the track as Melandri goes around him probably 10 feet away. Maybe not the best place to have a look I would agree. Besides the only person that would've actually hit him on that line is Valentino "Dirt Tracker" Rossi
<

I also think that Casey could give a .... about wether they caught it on camera and showed it.

Both Lorenzo and Stoner crashed on right-hand corners. Rossi in the parc-ferme was remarking that it is rather tricky with the right side of the tyre in Laguna this year, without the dual compound.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (SackWack @ Jul 5 2009, 12:43 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>BTW I think that Lorenzo's shoulder was in bad shape. When they took him out of the ambulance and dropped the stretcher down he grabbed for his right shoulder. That is the shoulder that he came down on and slid across the gravel on. It looked pretty limp. Sorry to say that I think it will be one hell of a showing if he can lne up tomorrow.

I afraid you are right about his shoulder, he did take a very hard hit on it and my first thought was that he couldn't possibly escape that one without injury.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>But hey, I'm only sitting here in front of my computer. If I was trackside I might have been able to see his shoulder dislocate and hear it pop back into place. It's amazing what you can catch trackside.

Hey smart ..., if you weren't so smart you might have remembered that by being at the track, even junky has managed to get some valuable info out.

Interesting. Was that on Italian TV?
Anyway. For two of the best riders to go off at the final stages of qualification is really strange but this may explain part of it.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>While rumors are flooding the paddock are that Jorge Lorenzo broke his leg in his nasty qualifying high side crash today at Laguna Seca, knowledgeable sources say that he has been cleared to and and intends to ride.

Rumors that Lorenzo was just helicoptered out of the track to a San Jose hospital are false.

Knowledgeable sources say that Lorezo has a slight dislocation of the shoulder and a bruised ankle and foot

Rossi: Tyres could have caused crashes

Valentino Rossi said excessively hard tyres could have been a factor in the violent crashes suffered by his MotoGP title rivals Jorge Lorenzo and Casey Stoner at the end of Laguna Seca qualifying.

Second place qualifier Rossi was the only one of the front row trio fit enough to take part in the post-session press conference as both Lorenzo and Stoner received medical attention following their vicious crashes.

"I was told about the crashes," Rossi told Italia1. "In my opinion the problem is that we don't have dual compound tyres anymore. All the tyres are made of just one compound, and on tracks like this the right side is too hard, so if you aren't careful in taking it up to its proper temperature, the tyre makes you slide and there's no chance to save it."

He said he hopes his two title rivals do not have to sit out Laguna or any other race.

"I hope that Casey and Jorge are fit and able to race tomorrow," Rossi said. "It will be a great battle, because in race conditions the times are very close."

Rossi had been unable to beat Lorenzo to pole despite the Spaniard having two accidents, and said he was just relieved to be as high as second having struggled to get up to speed.

"We lose a bit too much in T4, I struggle a bit, especially in the last two turns I'm not quick, I can't ride the way I want," the Yamaha rider explained.

"Now we'll try to improve and understand what's happening, and we'll see whether we can do better tomorrow.

"Anyway, I'm happy for having managed to snatch second away from Stoner right at the last lap, because that's important, and I'm not that far off Lorenzo, because over the rest of the lap I'm quick and competitive, but now we need to sort ourselves out in the last two turns."

Laguna Highside Update - Stoner Fit, Lorenzo Likely To Race

Casey Stoner Ducati Jorge Lorenzo Yamaha MotoGP Laguna Seca, USA
News is starting to seep in of the injuries suffered by Jorge Lorenzo and Casey Stoner, both of whom suffered nasty highsides in the final minutes of qualifying at Laguna Seca. The good news is that both men are likely to be able to race tomorrow, but the bad news is that they are both pretty banged up.

Casey Stoner escaped with the least damage. According to reports on GPOne.com, Stoner only suffered a badly bruised hip, and should be able to race without problems tomorrow. Of course, Stoner is still suffering with the mystery virus which has plagued him at the last couple of Grand Prix, though some of the color seemed to have returned to the Australian's face today, and Stoner looked a good deal better than he did yesterday.

Jorge Lorenzo came off the worst of the pair. In another huge highside, resembling all too starkly the kind of crashes Lorenzo was prone to last season, Lorenzo fell heavily on his shoulder, and banged up his knee. According to reports on both GPOne.com and Roadracing World, Lorenzo has suffered a dislocated collarbone and a badly bruised metatarsal in his right foot. Lorenzo has also been pronounced fit to ride, though by Dr. Claudio Costa, who places more faith in the riders mental resilience rather than their physical health. If Lorenzo does ride, he will be far from at full strength.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Arrabbiata1 @ Jul 4 2009, 06:21 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Agree - but remember Marco, who astonishingly got on the podium with a sprained ankle after Kurtis took him out, to secure the Ducati ride for the following year (bet he wished he'd never bothered)

I well remember that it was heroic.

Motogp.com:

Fiat Yamaha’s former 250cc World Champion Lorenzo was unaffected by a lowside crash on the fourth corner with 20 minutes to go, jumping on his second M1 to grab pole for Sunday’s race, before a massive highside crash saw him taken away from trackside and straight to the medical centre. Initial tests showed a partially dislocated right shoulder and a bruised right foot, but Lorenzo will not be passed fit to ride, or ruled out of action, until Sunday morning.

with third fastest rider Casey Stoner also crashing heavily on turn three in the final minutes. Stoner appeared to be walking unaided, albeit unsteadily, after the session and is said to be ok to race.
