i think this race will be a rossi/lorenzo fight. jumkie asked casey how he felt. casey said better but not 100%. i think he will need to be 110% to keep the pace over race distance.

Did he give out to him for not making the press conference last week?

But don't forget that we are on controlled tyre's now.

good point. so if the race times are slower than last year which i doubt, we can say control tyre rule does slow development.

As we saw sign of last year the spell or code if you like over LS is over. All the riders know it well enough and with new surface it's become easy enough for first timers to do well.
No more will we see track specialists dominate like Hayden, Vermulen and Edwards. They might end up a few positions higher than what they normally do by not much more.

This race will be about usual top 4.

The podium is likely to be filled with the regulars but...anything can happen.

Nicky is complaining of power delivery out of the corners, which is where the Ducati's strength is. He is kind of surprised at what is going on because on this track usually the front wheele comes off the ground out of corners and his didn't come off at all

"We're near the back again so that's not cool and not what I was hoping for. In some places the bike feels quite good but in other places, coming out of the corners, it feels pretty flat and I don't have enough acceleration. Usually this is a strong point of the Ducati so it's a little strange so we'll have a look at the mapping and see if we can figure out the problem tonight. Normally around here you have a lot of wheelies and I don't have any so it's obviously something we need to put right. I've got a new helmet design here for the 4th July. It is tradition to let off fireworks here so that is the basis of the design, although on the track we haven't let anything go yet! Hopefully we can get a better direction with the engine tomorrow and find some spark!"

Kinda bummed for Hayden at this stage ..... I had mentally set Laguna as the race by which we would know if he was up and running, or the race at which "something clicks", as I feel it did for Stoner at Qatar 07.

SO for me this is the decider for the Hayden/Ducati combo ..... there's still the actual race yet I suppose.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (undeadprincess @ Jul 3 2009, 11:14 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'> honestly didn't think Lorenzo would do that well but he seems to have proved me wrong.
Keep in mind he Qualified 4th on the grid last year at Laguna.....and he is bloody good!

A home track at which he should be able to ride any bike well at....the fact he is struggling at it is very telling about his troubles with the Ducati and the 800s in general...he needs to go back to SBKs...

At the last test Stoner followed Hayden and said he could have run right over him coming out of corners. Hayden was complaining about a flat motor even then. Are both bikes the same spec?

This was painfully apparent yesterday when Colin was following him too.

Also, I couldn't believe it when Toby and Julian said the reason that he dropped back last Weekend at Assen, was because of his clip on coming loose!!! - ie: someone on that side of the garage had neglected to tighten it properly. Sorry if this has already been picked up on.

I agree, but Hayden did look like he'd made a step or two forward with the bike in Assen, or was that my imagination.
