Had a great meet-up with Bern in San Francisco - proving once again rabid Lorenzo and Stoner fan-boys can have a civilized meal of Pepper Crab at R&G Lounge. After SF me and Johnnie B rode along the coast, eventually making it to LA - where we were scheduled to meet-up with California Kid, but Kid got stuck in Boston working on a film shoot that went into a lot of overtime. But... he's moving his family to Boston, which is not far away from me - so more meet-ups will ensue.

How did you end up getting on with the bike? Pretty much same as your original thoughts - great on the road, ...... in the city?

Yeah... pretty much. The GS1200 is super nice when you're rolling. But there were times where I'd park it on an incline, get some lunch, and then spend 7 frustrating minutes trying to tip it upright in order to back it out (nothing like Barry's backing it in - it has to be said) because being 148 Lbs and 5.10 just doesn't lend itself to pushing that much mass, and I work out at the gym 3 times a week. And of course ego being what it is, I refused to ask anyone to help me tip it upright. The GS is better suited to Povol-Sized guys.

When we got to LA, I went to the rental joint and traded it in for an XSR900 which is a pisser of a bike. Totally loved it. I'm shopping around for one right now. WTF - I figure I haven't owned a Japanese superbike since I sold my R6 which I never gelled with. The XSR900 is super schweet. Feels light as a feather and pretty much needs nothing other than a aftermarket pipe and small fairing. The "famous Snake Road" through the canyons BTW - fun to ride, but not nearly as challenging as some people hype it to be. I went on a weekday so not much car traffic. Lots of good riders tho.

Hey man glad it all went well and you had pretty decent weather!

Really great. Worked out well. A tad chilly the first few hours but I had my good Spidi cold weather jacket. 4 hours south of SF - the weather was really mild. Early mornings were chilly but we're New Yorkers... so no problem. Great hanging with you.
