Harris' Hydrex future in doubt?
Hydrex Honda team boss Shaun Muir has admitted he is considering the future of Karl Harris after a disappointing performance during the latest round of the British Superbike Championship at Cadwell Park.

Although Harris currently sits a solid fourth in the overall standings, he has been comprehensively out paced by Stuart Easton, climbing onto the podium just twice compared to his team-mate's ten rostrum finishes.

The latest round at Cadwell Park signalled further disappointments, Harris qualifying in sixth position but being unable to convert that into anything better than 15th and eighth in the two races.

The result has led to Muir to suggest that the team had expected better from Harris come race day before admitting he is unsure 'where to go from here'.

“Karl qualified fairly strongly but to finish so far back in the races, especially the first one, was disappointing. It's just not working for him at the moment and I don't think it's unfair to say he under-performed, we expect better. I'm not quite sure what we do or where we go from here so I'll have a think over the next few days and take it from there.”

Got to admit his showing on monday was a dissapointment,
he looked like an also ran i was looking for him (he's a local guy) and remember thinking wtf and had to count what position he was in.(race 1) and Easton was battling hard up front on the hydrex..

I thought Karl was showing some spirit of late but something is amiss somewhere, such a talent too.

Hydrex Honda sack Harris

Hydrex Honda boss Shaun Muir has sacked Karl Harris.

Muir was fuming with what he described as a lack of effort and race-craft after Harris’ dismal 15th and eighth places at Monday’s Cadwell Park BSB round and yesterday told the rider his services were no longer required.

Harris is fourth in the points and started the season well with two second places in rounds two at Oulton – one of his favourite circuits - but since then he’s lacked confidence and struggled to run in the top six, in a season where he’s been totally overshadowed by team-mate Stuart Easton.

The situation for Harris has been on a knife-edge since Knockhill when Muir warned him he would be assessed on a ride-by-ride process after the Scottish round.

Muir said: “It’s a shame it’s come to this because we all really like Karl so it’s been a really tough decision to make but we’re at a delicate time in the season with Stuart trying to secure second place in the championship.

“We were hoping Karl would be able to play a significant part in that but, unfortunately, he hasn’t been able to get anywhere near the form he showed at the beginning of the year or what everyone knows he’s capable of - so we’ve decided to act now.

“Everyone’s worked really hard and given him every possible bit of support but, sadly, the results still haven’t been forthcoming and it’s a decision that had to be made.

"The team has made a major step forward this year regularly running in the three (with Easton). We’re sorry it hasn’t worked out for him and would like to publicly wish him all the very best for the future.”

Muir has not yet announced a replacement ride but the obvious choice would appear to be Tommy Hill who is currently on the sidelines.
