Apparently this is old news but I just found out.
Josh Brookes, 2005 Australian Superbike AND Supersport champion, who finished 6th at the Suzuka 8 hour last year, and 2004 Phillip Island wildcard World Supersport race winner, has signed with Team Caracchi NCR to ride a 749R in the WSS championship next year.
Even though he only won the Superbike championship on a countback of wins, I belive this kid's got talent. He was storming his was to dual Superbike/Supersport crowns in 2004 when his campaign was halted by serious injury. He was forced to learn how to do wheelies in his wheelchair while his team mate took both titles.
Anyway, I'm sure all the Aussies wil agree it's good to finally see Brookesy on the international scene. The 749R will be a challenge given he's been on CBRs for years now and how tyre development in WSS definately favours jap fours. But this could be a stepping stone to a competitive 999R in a couple of years time, if he manages to prove himself.
