Best damned bit of news I've read today!

Rea has the potential to win in WSBK get the title in 2009 and move to GPs by 2011 Fast Track Career!

Come one Johny!

WHAT?!?!! YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME!

As good as he is, he won't win the WSS in his maiden year, he knows none of the circuits!!!

He should have signed with Xerox IMO, as that duke is sure to be a beast next year, and he could learn from the old dog bayliss.

Wish him the best though!

have to say i am surprised at this thought he would have one more year in bsb then look to jump straight to motogp as there has been interest in him or then go straight to wsb with ten kate.

<
cant believe hes gone to wss first as part of the deal. ten kate have 4 wsb to fill and one of the worlds best superbike riders has gone into their wss team.

Keep in mind the guys is 20 years old...he has loads of time to develop and make a run at the WSBK title.

WSS? Huh? I didn't bother to read the news article cause it takes a while to open on my mobile so i had just assumed he's going to be one of the 4 wsbk riders and i was well happy. One brit out one in...but no. wss? Why?

I thought this was great news when I read the headline. Then I read the WSS part. Why he turned down Ducati is the biggest mystery. Still he's out on the world stage now, he'll learn the tracks and probably make the podium several times with a win or two not out of the question.

I'm glad he's out of BSB, if you're gonna ride a street bike you might as well do it on the world stage with a world class team.

You are right. I was hoping that an extra year in BSB with HM plant might have led directly to motogp, but this was unlikely and i'm sure Rea has made the best decision for the long run. Its another Loss for BSB though, and i'm unlikely to bother watching him in WSS.

This makes no sense to me. You would have thought a factory Ducati ride in wsbk would be a springboard to motogp in the next 2-3 years. Sticking with Honda is no guarantee for promotion into a decent motogp ride with them. if he impressed on the Ducati in wsbk, he could then move to D'Antin and eventually on to the full works bike.

I think it's the right move for Johnny at the moment, he's obviously made the decision based on the long term. He's a Honda guy, a bit like Hayden is. Whatever way you look at it it's hardly a bad move. One year in WSS and at least one in WSB with the top Honda team will put JR in line for a GP shot. He may very well keep his promise by winning the WSS title, the guy is a natural. If he goes good in supers the he'll get a spin on an 800 for sure. Anyway, Ducati's factory GP slots are all tied up, well at least one of them until 2010 and Melandri will probably go alright on the GP7 too, if he does they'll keep him on, that's the way they work. What Honda guy would be rushing into GP's at the minute with one guy running away with everything and Honda/Michelin suffering badly. What other bike could/would he ride?

Good luck in WSS JR!

Going to Ducati could have seemed a better choice but we don't know everything I think.

It appears Rea has a contract for two years in Supersport and one year in Superbike and I think Honda is behind all that so in the long term it looks like a better choice to me

I think it's a smart move.

A year at Xerox may have harmed his image if he had not win a race due to bad track knowledge and riding a new bike.

It was to risky.

Instead of that, he has a three year contract with a "Honda blessed" team.

First year, he learns the tracks and wins one or two races, the second year, he takes the title and he's sure to go to WSBK in good conditions.

And all with Honda blessing. There are only two good Ducatis in MotoGP but more Honda rides

I dont understand what hes done thats so stupid. If he's as good as he seems then he wil be confident he can continue to impress for the next 2 years with then a safe ride on a good bike after.

After Seeing what Tommy Hill can do with a Yamaha when brought in mid season i am starting to believe that JR with a Ten Kate Honda underneath him could win this title first time round. But then maybe i don't think enough of Tommy Hill??
