That was a fun QP.

Very impressed with Cal so far this season. He's so close to the front he can taste and I think he'll keep pushing for it. It'll be interesting to see what happens to his bike as the season progressses... I am wondering if he'll be getting updates mid-season the way Spies seemed to in 2010? If he stays top 4 on a tech3 I think it'll happen.

Nicky. I said it to myself during the race at Qatar and I was saying it to myself again today, heart of a lion that guy. He won't quit. In the very least deserves to be everbody's second favorite rider.

RDP. Passport is still killing him. Give that guy a Honda, a real one.

Rossi. Mental said it best.

Stoner. It was a tricky day as far as conditions were concerned. He'll be up at the front when it counts.

What was going on with Edwards' bike? He should be neck and neck with RDP.

Lorenzo. On a mission.

The guy that interviewed rossi's dad this week is hella tired of all this talk. He is hoping maybe he can get another standing applause from his biggest fan when they cross paths during the race.

I could probably predict it based on who is posting if such were to happen. See todays thread. Benidick Brutus J4rno will surely be part of the mob ready to kick a man when down. Ive never been a Rossi or Stoner fan in its classical sense, but how long will a man have to pay for past sins?

Well some people can stop with the CRT hate now, I didn't think Duc would be getting it's ... kicked this soon in the season but RDP is about to do it. Good for him and way to expose the .... Ducati have brought to the worlds highest level of racing. They should do like lambo and have an all ducati race series so they don't continue to embarrass themselves.

Can you just clarify something for me. Is it only the Ducati on the 5th row that is ...., or is also the one on the front row?

I think the Rossi situation is simple. In his mind he has decided that he can not ride the bike. I agree with him too. The bike is not of a style that suits his style and he is simply not prepared or able to change style. If the bike is changed to complement his style he will be back, if not he won't.

Hayden on the other hand is more flexible in mind and style so has worked hard and found a way to ride the bike as have Barbera and Abraham.

Jum this is not hate it is just reality and we will all talk about it because it is Rossi.

Mental, it's a sad day when your post is fairer and more moderate towards Rossi than those of J4rno and Jazkat.

He clearly can't get the bike to work for him and has opening pointed out that he can't replicate Hayden's style using his settings. This doesn't sound like an overload of ego, Rossi being a primadonna or having a dummy spit. I think anyone who thinks he is not trying is a fool.

Interesting qualy. Good to see Nicky up the front - he rode well. JLo and Dani were quick as expected. But Casey, what happened there? A full second off. We know he doesn't like this track, but I'm still pretty surprised. Maybe he just had a bad day. I think its too early to say he has lost interest and thrown in the towel like Jumkie is saying. However, maybe being a dad has changed things. Think about it... His wife used to always be there for every race. He could give his full focus on the job. But now, his wife and new child are back at home. Most people would have that in the back of their mind. Last year, he also had a lot to prove. He wanted that title, and just went out there and took it. Maybe it aint such a priority for him this year. But hey, it was just qualy on his least favourite track - we'll see how the race goes...

As for Vale... It seems he HAS thrown in the towel. I like Nicky, no disrespect there. But for Vale to be absolutely thrashed by Nicky in that way says a lot.

I think JLo and Danni will battle it out in the race. The third place on the podium could be interesting...

The times are pretty far off from the test times, the Duc hasn't magically gotten faster everyone else has gone slower. Go look up the times for yourself and then go see Nicky's career at Ducati and what happens to his pace at the end of most dry races. I'm a fan of his and I'll be praying for rain, the bike is still .... and way off the pace, as the fuel is burned and the front end becomes liter he will have to slow down. Even if the bike was indeed better, it isn't a proper factory effort. I have no clue what Rossi is up to but that bike is trash and the two sat bikes are being ridden hard and still being out matched by a CRT bike. I want to see Nicky on a real GP bike and not the POS Duc. If we have a dry race we can revisit this post and talk about what that front row was worth, .... he says it himself in the post quali interview, remember he/duc is off the pace and there are 4 bikes behind him that can easily go faster. The race will be interesting for sure

Found this elsewhere but cannot find any verification but it is a response from Stoner when asked a question about the Ducati

I spoke with Nicky the other day," said Stoner. "He said he's really happy with the bike, and it's probably the best [Ducati] he's ridden. He seems really confident with it but from the other side of the garage you hear the complete opposite.

A true champion wants to win all the time and in any circumstances.

Couldn't agree more...

“For me my feeling is that we are competitive in the wet, so if the conditions remain like this we can fight for a good result,” said Rossi.

It's not the bike, and that's why the team and Rossi are having such a major disconnect, imo. The current Bridgestone front is still the brick from last season. The current Bridgestone rear is the new medium construction that heats up more quickly. Hard front/medium rear, on a bike with questionable front end feel, is a death sentence for Valentino Rossi. A new tire is on the way so Ducati are not dumping money into the current bike, until the new tire shows up in large quantities. Rossi has already decided that the new front tire won't fix anything, and he demands changes now.

Meanwhile, Hayden has engineered some settings that make the bike work reasonably well for him. Same as 2010 actually, when Nicky opened the season 4th, 4th, 4th, dumb crash at Mugello, 4th.

It's not the bike. When he got the bike at the Valencia tests, it was the same machine that scored 3 wins (4 podiums) in the last 6 grand prix. Rossi is the issue. Ducati should have the expertise to make Rossi comfortable, but if they are chasing some confidence and feel, who can blame Ducati for waiting until the tire and the new engine show up?

Hawk, if u think about, Duc is a CRT. The best CRT in the paddock. That bike might even have less miles on it than some CRTs. New frame in Duc engine.

Good point, and it has to be said that Aprilia has really embarrassed Ducati at this rounds Quali, with Randy in front of all but 1 of their efforts with a bike that is in another category.........reading more on the Rossi situation, it gets stranger, as is with the earlier test he was in 6th only 1 second off the pace, how does he drop 2.5 seconds at the same circuit........????? there is much more to this story.......

The Aprillia is as much CRT as the Ducati. No?

Actually, Aprillia CRT is more a factory effort than Duc. The Apr frame is basical their modified Wsbk frame, while Duc had their frame made by some proper third party then slapped a Duc engine in it (a temp one at that). Duc should be applauded for making a new CRT in such short time and make it work decent relative to the "labelled CRT"s.

great session for Jorge, Dani and Cal! Not too mention Nicky! Stoner WTF? 1 second off the pace, in those conditions? Spies is also in all sorts of bother.

Speaking of bother......Rossi, I have been looking for some sort of logical explanation today from the pitbox in regards to what happened, but it doesn't seem to exist, Kropo- anything?

From an outside point of view it seems as though Rossi and his team are now not working well together at all. Something is seriously amiss for them to be that far back at this circuit. As i said at Qatar, its time for something serious to be done in that garage, as this is not the way talent like this (all of them) should be performing. I'm hoping for the best for them, as for now, just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, it does........looking back, Rossi Qualified over 3 seconds faster in 2009-2010, even 2 seconds quicker last year! The conditions of course are a little different-but not that much. What the hell is going on?

Rossi is "befuddled".

He got to Ducati thinking he would show Stoner how to ride, because he actually believed his fans own fairytales about Stoner, then found them to be grossly wrong.

Rossi does not handle being befuddled.

Now that the Ducati is slowly getting sorted he is also finding that on the same equipment .... Nicky also beats him! He has just had to comedown to earth lately, and the hitting the ground has hurt.

Appluaded, for what, still being off the pace by more than a second for two years in a row. For having the same point and shoot bike that only one man could ride. Do you work for Ducati by chance. I might be slightly biased because I've been watching my favorite rider's career pass by, but I don't think they should be applauded for anything.
