I'd have to differ with you on the Rossi is the best pure rider out there bit for the following reasons:

Rossi's on the best bike and has been for years ( Lorenzo steping in has shown that ) so really its been a bit od a giveaway for him.

Rossi is the king of TC he has had it longer than anyone else out there, indeed he is the guy on the Mag. Marelli website!! Take TC off a bike and he would be nowhere one would assume.

Rossi has had the best tires, as as been displayed by the fact that only Stoner can win, even on Bridgestones.

In several straight up "pure races" since Stoner came into MGP he has won and his record surpasses Rossi for that time period.

Rossi was ranked 3rd in the world and in a year when 3rd, and indeed 2nd, was a looong way off pace.

Rossi's last few races ( late 07-08 ) has shown him to be at best a top of midpack rider.

Toseland on a satellite Yamaha matches Rossi in his first ever race.

Lorenzo in his forst ever race creams Rossi

Rossi uses political pressure to get gains that help him ( unfortunately it seems to have backfired with the going Bridgestones ploy
<
)

Rossi is good at getting in front and holding others behind him ..... The newer guys dn't seem to understand this hence they have been going past him whilst he creates a new "pack" ( and "real race"
<
<
<
) down where the midpack stuff starts.

Rossi employs desparate measures to compete ... eg. Run Qualies ( or very very soft tyres ) to get in front and possibly hold of the toher riders.

Doviziosa on a second rate Honda had his measure. And Dovi. is a Rookie.

Rossi imagines things are wrong with his bike to cover up his own shortcomings.

Rossi has in the past employed pressure within his team to ensure that the riders hired to ride with him are not going to show him up.

Theres lots of reasons why Rossi is not the best "pure rider" those are just a few.

<

Your such a player hater Barry, did Rossi piss in your cornflakes or something?
<

Yes Stoner is the the man at the moment, but slating Rossi when you know fine and well that he has had numerous problems with the machine and his mentality is just daft. when everything goes as it should for Rossi(Assen 07) he's amasing, battles like Catalunya lastyear show that he is more than a 'top of the midpack' racer...

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (spooky @ Mar 21 2008, 08:32 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>when you know fine and well that he has had numerous problems mentality

you are agreeing with me there ....... so whats your problem?

I merely put in words the numerous problems ....... is it a game of "dare I say it" though
<

I disagree with the thinking that the bike was no good though .... unless it was the time he raced an untested machine ... against the wishes of the team/manuf.

well i think most people would struggle to concentrate on racing with the thought of paying millions and millions of pounds to the taxman looming overhead...

The bike was far from ..... but it was far from the best aswell, it may of had a little more in the turns than the Duc(not much though) but the Duc had a huge advantage on the straight, that combined with tyres that wouldnt last the duration on most occasions equals a not so competitive bike.

As for TC, where do you get your facts? Noone knows how much traction control any of the riders are using, so the topic of traction control in null and void.

This could go on and on Barry, at the end of the day your a Rossi hater and a Stoner lover.

It's a 'fact'. Commonly known as .........

Race.
1. Pedrosa
2. Stoner
3. Rossi

If it rains

1. Stoner
2. Rossi
3. Lorenzo

(Ant will trade 16th from Qatar with heroge and take 3rd)

This is very true. You obviously also must accept that nobody knows how much tc stoner is using either
<
.

I think barry is using poetic license; no-one could honestly think rossi is a mid-pack rider.

Tighten the straps nurse!!

I see the race as highly competitive and not just been two top Spanish riders trying to win at all cost - Pedrosa and Lorenzo. It will be a real test for Stoner to see if he can also win here and it will be very interesting to see just what Rossi has left to offer - if he can really match it head to head with the new breed. Hopefully the race will be decided by the best rider (not just 'on the day with the right set up') and not overly subject to different manufacturers and tyres etc.

My prediction:
1 Pedrosa
2 Stoner
3 Lorenzo

i reckon 5 race wins will win this season... stoner already has 1 of 5. will probably make it 2 of 5 next week

Looks like its not going to rain so you can probably count that out.

I don't see Stoner winning this race here. He hasn't looked good at Jerez and it looks like this season is shaping up a lot like last year. Casey does have something to prove here at this track though and it looks like when he has something to prove he can really step up his game. Look for him to do better than last year.

Rossi is definitely a wild card here. We know that he can go well at Jerez by his track record here. If he can get his package working look for him to be the race winner.

Pedrosa will be fighting for a podium spot and maybe for the win.

Colin Edwards, lifted from the restraints of Rossi will be a podium contender.

Lorenzo is definitely going to put a good showing and possibly the race winner. He has shown that he can win here in the past and that he can hang on the 800's. As long as he and Pedrosa don't slow each other down too much.

Dovi battles hard but falls short of the podium.

JT right behind Dovi

Hayden, ah Hayden, get your .... together and put in a good showing, he'll qualify top three then fall off the race pace and finish 7th.

Melandri???? God knows

The rest is the rest for the rest of the season.

well seeing as Rossi won at Jerez last year, im gonna go with:

1. Rossi
2. Lorenzo
3. Toseland

. . .please dont ask me why, because i dont know!

Rossi is overdue a win so it would be good to see him break his streak at Jerez again and if he gets on the podium he'll be the first MotoGP rider to get 100 podiums. I would like to see Toseland up there too.

Throw a blanket over these 4-

Stoner
Pedrosa
Rossi
Lorenzo

Wait till after qualifying to give my prediction.

And the results are in...

But maybe Toseland to beat Stoner

Barry lay off the drugs if Toseland beats Stoneboy (Hopefully!) then there would be no Aussies on the podium, you would not be able to handle that pal! Remember, you hav e to be able to cope when you come down, and you cant hope for that, too much pal!
