So are they dropping 1 of the other US GP's or are there going to be 3 GP's in the US? If there are going to be 3 then I have an issue with that the same as I have an issue with 4 Spanish GP's and 2 Italian ones.

Yet to be seen, but Indy probably gone. Having 3 GP's in the US would not be that bad considering the size of the country. We have states the size of Europe

I doubt Indy will survive. It's a well organized event and I enjoy the staff and community at large but I don't think it's the proper place for a world class motorcycle race. Too many different pavement types, poor crash protection and sub par viewing facilities. It's fair at best, it's certainly not good.

Both Motomatters and Superbikeplanet posted a press release from Indy, who immediately responded to the announcement of the Austin GP. In SBP, they suggest 3 GPs, on Motomatters, Kropo simply says, it was a very "interesting" press release, for what it said and "don't say".

never was a fan of the indy track

any concept pics of the track in texas (or is it already there?)

The best thing about Indy is the access u get to paddock if u can afford a suite. If it goes away, u guys better try and make it and get a suite with my contact. Becuz if the Austin paddock is anything like the other venues from what i understand, u will never get to meet these guys up close. The Laguna paddock pass only gives u access to the barrier seperating the public to rear of garages.

From what I understand, Dorna isn't happy with the way Indy has been marketing the event. Supposedly, Indy are working closely with Red Bull to promote more for 2011. It seems Indy wants to keep it, and Dorna are interested in appeasing the east, west, and south of the US. Big populations, lots of motorcyclists. I think three GPs is overkill and I don't like Indy, anyways. I'd rather see something else than Indy, but we'll see what happens. Sounds like they're trying to make three GPs in the US work.

Never been even tempted to get to Indy - but Austin is supposed to be a kick-... town. I'd go.

Hope there's some elevation changes other than just banking. Texas is supposed be flatter than

a pancake.

There is plenty to do in Indianapolis as far as nightlife, it is a major city. The track just sucks. The different surfaces suck, the viewing sucks, the overall size of the place sucks and they herd you through a maze that takes forever to go from one side of the track to another. The only thing it has going for it is history of the facility, and that front straight. I cant say for sure because i have not visited anywhere near all the tracks, but when those bikes are accelerating down the front straight at Indy, the sound reverberating off the stands from both sides has to be the best. It gives me chills when they go through the gears in what is basically a tunnel. I hope they dump Indy and get something a little further east. I still think Barber would be a natural if and when they reconfigure the back stretch, which is rumored to be one of the demands from Indy Car for them to return after the current contract expires. The place is fantastic, numerous elevation changes, numerous passing zones, unbelievable motorcycle museum on site, gorgeous and bizarre landscaping, fan friendly with free trolley service , great viewing areas where you can see large parts of the track, then hop on the trolley and in minutes, be at another viewing section. If Birmingham is not to your liking, you can stay 30 minutes east of the track and only be an hour from Hotlanta. The best scenario would be for the owners of Road Atlanta to get off their ... and bring that facility up to snuff, but that never seems to be in the cards

Don't kid yourself. Everyone knows that in an ideal world, Road America would host a grand prix. Duh.

Hell, I'd go to Bama no problem. Road Atlanta is okay for club racing. I don't think they own enough real estate to be able

to expand the facility properly and create viewing for fans. I've raced there and still shudder when I think of the

right hander at the end of the back straight before going under the bridge and the turn at the bottom of the hill

(I know it's been redesigned since Duhammel's crash) was really a balls-out proposition. Scared the crap out of me.

A lot of folks seem really down on Mid-Ohio. I remember really liking the facility and the layout. I just always found the surface there to be greasy.

geez..another race in USA....another racetrack completely surrounded by American flags flapping in the breeze. What is it with you yanks and your flag....I think I counted nearly 200 flags on the main straight alone. You don't have to remind the rest of the world who you are ...we already know...the country that invades other countries for their oil

I don't know what the deal with the flags are either? They do the same goofy thing at Miller in SLC. I find it to be a bit tacky myself but I guess there's a crowd out there that likes that kind of thing.
