Has anyone else noticed that the i.o.man tt & british gp clash this year?

The i.o.man starts on 30 may to the 10 june & the gp starts on the 10 june. Surley this is going to reduce gate numbers at silverstone!

This appears to be because the british gp has moved a week earlier on the calender.

Surley Dorna dont expect the moto gp to compete with what is probably the best known two wheeled race in the world!

Each year at the brit gp you can easily lose count of the number of peeps in thier new i.o.man t-shirts fresh from over the water a week earlier.

I for one wouldnt end at the tt THEN!

Didnt finish!

THEN! Get a ferry over the water & drive or ride 200miles to silverstone for one days racing!

I want the full wk-end experience wherever I go.

Interesting, so its possible to catch both? Is travel time about a day between venues? How much TT action would ther b on Wednesday the week of Silverstone?

Im not sure what action you would see at the tt from the wednesday previous to the gp as Im not familiar to the tt set up with it been so close to the gp. As for travel time: when the tt finishes you 1st have to get a ferry back over to the mainland & then drive or ride to silverstone, depending on where you get the ferry to depends on how far the road journey will be. But other things to consider is at what time your going to arrive at silverstone especialy on raceday Ive seen massive queues waiting to get in. The distance from liverpool to oxford is about 160-170 miles but it also means using the dreaded m6. Personaly ive never been on that particular motorway without encountering delays & then the m40 which can be just as bad. In short if you are going to try I wish you the very best of luck! Your a braver man than I.

Are you planning to come to the british gp?

There is a remote, very remote possibility. I just figured if I'm gonna take the time off, then another two days to see at least one day of TT would be cool. So is there any public transport? Like a train or something to avoid delays? I wouldn't attempt a rental car or bike, so basically I'd be relegated to trains or flight.

The Ferry crossing from Theifville Liverpool to Douglas I.O.M is 2 1/2 hours. How long you would have to que for a ferry during TT week i have no idea. I believe all hotels ect are fully booked up years in advance so i reckon camping would be the only option. As far as public transport in the uk

expensive and unreliable but im sure you could catch a train from liverpool to somewhere near silverstone, not sure how near. Burky would be the one to ask as he lives near silverstone i think. Would be one hell of a trip tho compa

When i went to the TT we flew because it was quicker and the Ferries were all booked up. On the island we camped because it was cheap, the weather was brilliant too. The buses out there were reliable, fast and friendly. Nothing like buses here.

As far as clashing with the British Gp goes, it does seem foolish but the loss of tickets at the gate will be all silverstones, Dorna and motogp get their money from TV and the TT isn't shown live anyway so figures shouldn't be effected.

How much does that ferry cost? I'm assuming its cheaper than flight?

....!!! I'm racing at Donington on the 11/12th.

Ah well. Would rather be a pilot than a spectator.....
