is there a maximum of bikes who can take place in the MotoGP class?

i mean right now we have 20 bikes
250ccm has more then 20
and 125ccm even more then 30

but there are rumours about a 3rd Kawasaki bike, and maybe a 3rd Ducati in 2008.
has another Team to go then, or is it possible to have 22 or even more bikes taking place in the MotoGP competition?

or is the low number of bikes (compared to 125ccm and 250ccm) in motoGP class just a matter of money?

thanks in advance for any answer!

In the days of the (cheaper) 500cc two strokers the premier class grid had more bikes on it. The only thing restricting the presence of more bikes is how much it costs. Ilmor just a sad example of precisely that. I once heard Aspar say in an interview that keeping four riders and their bikes on the lower class grids costs him less than it would to have just one very basic single rider team in premier class.

Is there a limit as to how many bikes can be on the factory team? I.e could Repsol Honda hypothetically field three factory riders for the whole season?

No limit, other than a $ one...

The offical Rothmans/Repsol team fielded three bikes for over ten years. Not sure what that meant for the "Team Points Championship", though.
