Ducati innovation dumbed down me thinks, the rev limit will effect them most.

Oh, and Rossi is using his voice for reason...this time.

I'm very pessimistic about these new rules at the moment so I hope Noyes is right that simplicity and uniformity will help improve the sport. I'm finding it a bit difficult to believe ATM. However, I am confident that the racing should improve drastically (at least the spectacle if not the closeness) b/c the bikes will have very different power characteristics.

Noyes makes a good point though, the devil is certainly in the details. After the next meeting in February, we may have a very different outlook.

OK so we are getting more power, but I have something to throw out to you all.

Aren't they going to get rid of carbon brakes next year?

I haven't heard that.

It was proposed to be banned or at least limited in 09, though at the beginning of the year they wanted a complete ban.

Making carbon-carbon brakes illegal and requiring MotoGP bikes to use steel brakes. This rule will save the teams as much as $250k per motorcycle but will remove the very trick composite brakes from the world stage.

I think they are going to use them but just ban them from certain tests. At least that's whta I'm reading:

3. Ceramic composite materials shall not be permitted for brake discs and pads.

For 2010

4. Carbon composite front brake discs must be of one diameter only and two types of mass. The diameter will be 320mm only.

Jumkie, as far as I know the ceramic composite brakes referred to are a newer technology that's currently not on par with carbon-carbon. The regulations you cite from your second link are more to keep manufacturers from spending money on new brake tech, not hase out the old stuff (at least not yet).
