Duc will sign Hayden for another year, they need a rock right now with everything in flux (Stoner's situation ---> shuffling riders and finding replacements for the Duc teams). Hayden can be that rock and his results aren't bad at all.

That's really all there is to it. A bit too hard braking with the bike in the wrong angle. Or that's what it looked like to me.

That crash looked like it was don on the wet or with crap street tires sure. With the best tires available you shouldn't go down like that unless there are some very special conditions. As commentators and Yamaha said he braked on dirty surface, very dirty surface I suspect. Non the less a huge mistake from Rossi.

yes he was!! He'd just closed in a second during the previous two laps and stated on his website that he was just lining up a move, probably contributed to not seein melandri in time. Would have probably taken Gayden out though. Melandri was just quicker than both kallio, hayden and was it Edwards?

Lol. iPhone typed hayden wrongly.

Crash did look unusual, however I think he just ...... turn 1 and tried to recover too quickly, his speed and line into the corner were way off and a fistful of Front did the rest.

Most are still coming to terms with Indy, less dry practice and race time makes for difficult sessions. This week will hopefully bring a better race......

It gives a title hope for Lorenzo and the fans...

dovi is a mid pack rider and should get the shunt, and well pedrosa has proven himself to be one of the top4 riders in the field and on his day can win. in 2010 provided he can start off 100% fit and 3 years of motogp experience, he will give it a real shake at the title.

Farck Pinky I agree with you, I think one just flew over the cuckoos nest!

Upon returning to the pits, Rossi immediately began checking the telemetry to try and find out what he had done wrong. The answer, it seems, is that the six time MotoGP champion had been a little off-line.

“Unfortunately I ran wide on to a dirty part of the track at turn one and lost the front,” confirmed Rossi. “I tried to carry on but there was a problem with my throttle and it wasn't possible.”

“It was a bit of a strange crash, and this is why as soon as Valentino got back he wanted to check the data,” added team manager Davide Brivio. “It seems he just found himself on a dirty part of the track and so when he braked he lost the front and that was it.”

Pinky, you really need a calculator... 2006, 2007, 2008 & 2009 will equal 4 years experience in 2010!

A calculator would be a nice start but I can think of a few other things the guy needs

First off, FOX's broadcast sucked big balls. The high def was amazing but the producing was aweful. Sorry to Greg White but they need to get rid of him. He has a one minute clip while there was racing taking place, on the leathers that the riders are wearing and he didn't even do a good job of it. Not to mention the commercial breaks were long and always missing the crucial events on track. On a positive side I think that Scott Russell is really getting the hang of commentating. The more that I hear him the more I like his commentating. Good job to him.

I went back and watched the BBC broadcast which was much better. Anyone see the Perry interview with Edwards on the grid
<
. I think this is the first time that I saw a motogp broadcast with picture in picture which was awesome. They were able to show interviews in a small picture while still showing the race. They need more of that, especially when they can show more than one battle on track. Or if they want to show Jorge parading around in 1st they could have a second window show the midpack battles. But its a start so good on them.

The race, meh, wasn't that good in my opinion. Sure my boy was on the podium and that made my day but the racing itself wasn't that great. Horgay winning by a mile is not fun to watch. And the midpack racing was less than steller. The jury is still out there but I really don't think that I like the Indy track at all. There is no character to it and it's too tight and doesn't flow like a Laguna Seca or Phillip Island.

On Rossi and Pedro. They both made stupid mistakes. The excuses are out there: Dirty track, surface changes, etc but 14 other riders had no problem bringing it home. Pedro still behind Stoner in the championship
<
. If Rossi would have gone back out there he could have been rewarded with a point. That would give him a 26 point lead. That one point may come back to haunt him, we'll see.

Dovi continues to dissappoint. In 250's he used to be able to hang with Lorenzo on an insuperior bike. I wonder what happened. I thought that he would defintely be able to hang with the front pack like he did in the 250's.

How many people that are losing their rides next year are stepping it up? Now we see DeAngeles take a second and he is gone next year. It must be bitter sweet for him like Elias.

On to Misano, good thing it's only a week till the next race.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Pirkkalan GP @ Aug 31 2009, 05:45 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>I've never made any connection with Kallio riding a 250 and that giving him a superiority over Hayden - that's somebody elses issue so I wasn't responding to that part. Infact that idea has never even occured to me, as far as I'm aware, and I didn't notice it in your post.

My point was the numbers (is it 8-2 now?) give it very heavily to Hayden over the last two races, but it could have easily been different.

Wander, how would you translate "röykkyisellä radalla"?

On a "shambles" of a track? "heap"?

Hasn't Hayden ridden round Indy a number of times, albeit not on gp bikes? Kallio didn't have a race last year and was on 250. He's stated that every track is like a new track when you switch to motogp and you have to re-learn it.

Well then you confused the issue by replying to something I never said
<
. Anyhoo - Hayden's parade lap on a 100 yr-old Indian and his laps last year in a blinding hurricane didn't give him any great advantage over Kallio.

I also thought once that ‘Picture in Picture’ would be a good idea for broadcasting… Greater top picture with the front and three small pictures in the bottom with a couple of back battles, action and fall reruns… And NO COMERCIAL while racing damn it; the whole tracks, bikes, helmets, suits, etc. are commercials themselves… Soccer does NOT get commercials while the game is ON, they put them all over the place, and even make the picture smaller so that underneath some commercials are seen, but the action itself does not stop!!!

I totally agree with you Sack, in that I think Rossi (as I had mention) was distracted or daydreaming, definitely a silly mistake imputable to no other than himself! Oh well, he’ll have to win in Misano!

Sacky
was that the same bit he does every week explaining what riders wear and what leathers are.
Did he use the hockey puck analogy for the knee sliders as well?

He also rode a new fireblade there.

I think they should've put a tarp over half the grandstand to make things look less 'empty'. The figure that they gave was around 75k in attendance, but on TV it did look 'empty' with a lot of the seats bare. Just a thought.

Those who say Rossi should have insisted trying to get even one point, forget the engine limitation rule. Saving an engine with less than a half race on it could make more sense in the new situation.
<

Then, I heard Rossi' interview and he did not mention the dirt track as an excuse--he said: "I made a mistake braking onto the dirty part of the track." In fact, this was Rossi's first crash this year while racing with slicks on a dry track. No excuses.
