The thing I like about Indy car racing, you can watch a few laps, go and prep a snack, watch a few more laps, go get another beer and you don't miss anything, maybe the safety car doing a couple of laps! but you know it will be back.

Remember when Nigel Mansel came over and kicked all your yank ..... in your own back garden , in the days when just about all the drivers were american and just about all the "world championship" was help at american track's. think they did one in mexico
But yeah its still mororsport so of course im watching it, just like i watched that shower of .... in monaco today

IRL and AOWR is a .... hole. A seespool of racing failures and over-sized egos. You think F1 is ...... up, take a quick glance at the IRL, and don't let the ugly cars make you gouge your eyes out.

When Champ Car was sold out to Tony George and his league of wankers, I gave up on racing. I knew I never had the talent for F1, and oval racing makes me sick (I get motion sickness in cars very easily) and I wanted to drive fast cars in great locales. That is what Champ Car was.

.... the Indy 500.

Who cares you ask? I don't. And from what I have heard from people within the series, not many race fans either.

....! I need a vaca.


On a side-note, Marco Andretti and I sat next to each other on a plane flight from Sebring to Indy a few years back. He's a legit person, unlike his father and grand father (ooo.... Jordan said something bad about the almighty Mario Andretti. Oooooo.... he'd going to hell.) who wants to do great in his career. I told him flat-out, the IRL will not do that. Racing open wheel cars in North America will not do that. The Indy 500, the Long Beach Grand Prix, mean nothing. The US 500 was killed off in 2005 with only 45 thousand in the stands of Michigan International Speedway (a circuit that can hold upwards of 100-125 thousand) that last race. One of the stalwarts of American Opel Wheel racing was the race in Phoenix. Only 8000 in the final race in 2005. Road America and the Cleveland airport circuit were axed in the takeover of Champ Car.

But you ask, who cares? Again, I'll say, I don't give one ....... bit.

Fast? Did you ever watch the races back when the 500 did mean something? About 15 years ago? Qualifying speeds now are down, while the crashes and injuries amassed would make motorcycle riders run for cover. The biggest name, was let off because of some iffy evidence in a multi-million dollar tax evasion case, along with his sister, only a few months back. The other big name is a .... who let's herself get pimped out to the biggest bidder, while her husband goes to trial in a child molestation case.

Enough of my hate. I need some politicians to trash.

Roger, that just does not make my pants twitch. I have had the unpleasantness of meeting Princess of Pout, and it just does not look good.

Plus, she looks like a 13 year old tranny.

What a crash near the end, I don't know who, two cars hit and one went up on his side, looked like he was driving (backwards) around the wall for ages! I have never seen anything like it.

I hope the drivers ok, he got taken to hospital.

Danica looks pretty hot to me, and I don't think I would have found such a woman beneath my notice when I was 19 either; perhaps the current generation have higher standards .

The indycar/champcar thing seems to have totally ruined openwheeler racing in the usa; I recall it being quite a spectacle back in the days when nigel mansell took them on.

Danica whilst not an absolutely top echelon driver also seems to have some talent and to be not the worst indycar driver ever, so as a trailblazer I would have thought warrants some respect, even if hayden fan appears to have confirmed her reputed moodiness.

There are CART/Champ Car fans who are still angry over "the split" and will probably have something bad to say about Indy Car and its participants for the rest of their lives, although I must say it's in a sad state. HF could be one of them.

I'm not exactly captivated by the series as is, but I keep a passing interest in order to see where the series is going. I was pleasantly surprised by the TV package, now to address the car situation. Once (if?) the economy improves, that is.

And yes Roger, your boy Mansell did whip some Yank .... But, as far as the spectacle went, the Yank series whipped F1's .... The euro formula circus will never be as cool as CART was.

I also think there are quite a few male race fans who think it's no place for a woman. What do you think of women competing in motorsport HF, do you share Richard Petty's view's ??

Yes. Tony George has done great things in bringing F1 and MotoGP to his race track, but when it comes to his League, he killed it.

And with two wins in the Atlantic Championship (former Champ Car feeder series) she has double the race wins as Danica, and is a consistent top 5 contender this season. Drivers should get rides based on talent and not her looks. If Danica was not willing to sprawl herself on a car with a few pieces of fabric on, she'd not be in any race car.

well she came 3rd in this indy 500 which sounds like she's more than a little competitive to me. A quick wiki search shows she has had 3 poles and finished 6th in the 08 championship. Clearly she is there because of this talent not her looks.

If they have the skill let them race. I do not like the all-women's classes that run in various places around the world. That is sexist. Especially in motocross. You have some amazing women in the women's classes that if given the chance, could do very well against the guys.

The thing with Danica, is that she should have the chance to win and dominate. But a fluke win and a few decent results just does not cut it. She has one of the best developed cars in the series. She might have talent to race, but she just does not run at a consistent level to keep her seat, let alone be one of the poster people in the whole USF1 team rumors.
