In this day and age of technology everyone from race direction to the ice cream man on the Tamburello chicane knew that the Sunday race could be affected by torrential rain.
Race direction chose to .... on everyone's strawberries and cancel the 2nd Superbike race and the SP300 race rather than use common sense and bring the meeting forward on the Saturday by running the 10 lap sprint superpole, cutting the dinner hour session etc etc etc
Gregario Lavilla the main man in charge with making a decision to race on the day looked like a rabbit caught in the headlights when challenged which is a sad reflection on the way the top brass has been taken over by ex riders who never set the world on fire trying to dictate to the current crop.
Yes the track was dangerous to ride on the Sunday due to the standing water but could've been avoided with a bit of forethought the day before...
For gods sake's they've got Scott Smart in charge of technical direction who's only claim to fame is he's Barry Sheene's nephew ffs :spin:
