What's the official line: that they won't be at jerez but will be as soon as they get money? So they could only miss the jerez race. Which is like a rider being injured. That's no problem.
If they're not going to return this season obviously technically it's a problem. Realistically as many have mentioned it won't make a difference = Ilmor won't score fantasy league points.
Perhaps a compromise is to remove the 10% fee (=2.2M or 2.9M depending on if team or engine) for as long as Ilmor don't race.

That would allow most to change team and/or engine for jerez

+ !!

Brilliant idea.

something has to be done, with only $2M I can't change anything. I guess I sort of screwed myself when I picked vermuelen instead of stoner. I'll just have to wait it out, then come back at the end with no chance of winning, but it should still be fun no matter what.

Ok,

This is an interesting situation!

On one hand, this is all part of being a good motogp fantasy manager - and people should just "suck it up".

On the other, no one could have imagined Ilmor, a brand new team to pull out in this way - so it could be expected that the rules are bent slightly.

The only reason why teams would have Ilmor in place, is so they could afford a better rider, instead of two average riders..........so were people expecting ilmor to get points? afterall - they got points in their first race last year! - or were people expecting to use them as team fillers - and gain more points by having a better rider!?

Its all fun and games - but lets remember its only 1 race down, those that had a bad start (inc me!) will hopefully gain some points.

I think leave it as it is till after Jerez to see if they pull out completley - it could just be hot air.

The 10% fee cannot be applied to individual aspects of the game, its eiteh on or off.

Maybe we have a 10% free day?

I'd also like to add that I have Ilmor in my team, but I have to remain un-biased!

If you were in the top 10, what would you say?

Shame the 10% can't be moulded... I thought with code anything is possible
<

Lets go with the: should have predicted it tough chicken route

Im in the top 10 (8th)

and i think something should be done if they dont race next race....

I've got them as my team and engine

just wait until after Jerez to see what happens I reckon.

I'd say that a '10% free day' is a good idea. You could do it this Sunday seeing as it's a week before the next race. If people miss the chance to change their team for free then tough.

im sure that if they leave now then when they come back they will be better and also. they have one rider who was in the race. also, the rider didn't finish.

when they come back im sure they will be better.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Pirkkalan GP @ Mar 15 2007, 05:58 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Surely with a fantasy league being a measure of how well you can predict, knowledge of the sport and of course luck (which you make yourself

). So is it not right that people should have foreseen this event was in the making and decided not to have Ilmor. Therefore the HUGE penalty of Ilmor not racing is just a result of ability of selection in the fantasy league

No compensation i say

i agree, you make your choices you stand buy them other wise all hell will break loose if say a rider falls and ends up out of the season. its only 10% fee anyway.

Even better, how about those who paid Ben and let him keep the money get a free transfer out?
<
<

I have Ilmore, am in the top 10 and do not think there should be a discount nobody forced me to
take them.

i can see where your comming from. from a personal standpoint, any moneys i may have paid would be an unconditional gift for the fun and education this site has given me and i neather expect or want any special treatment because of it.
back to the topic point, i still say stick to the rules,if you bend them once it could cause problems later on in the season.
i did not do well after the first race and i didnt pick ilmor so its swings and rounderbouts.imho.
