Just read something in MCN about the new Ilmor Team due to maybe on the grid for the last couple of races this year with their 800 cc??

It said they had been in talks with Max Biaggi but nothing had been confirmed. They said the bike is good but they've only had a WSB rider (Max Neukirchner) test it so far so they need to get a Moto GP rider on it to see if it's as good as they say. Good to have new blood in the GP. Wonder if Max Biaggi really is gonna ride it.

There has been talk about Biaggi going to D'Antin aswell so i'm not sure if he will ride it in its first season as Max isn't a development rider, he likes a perfect setup. I would love to see someone with experience ride it in its first season but not someone too old i.e. Jezza.

Forgot about Jeremy, yeah I suppose he might jump at the chance to come back into GP.

I reckon Biaggi will just go to D'Antin and POSSIBLY A 250 RIDER AT THIS NEW ILMOR TEAM?!

I'd like to see Biagi back, he's a class rider and with him the new team might not be doomed after all.

Biaggi has so far if the rumours are to be believed, entered talks with D'Antin, Ilmor, Ducati, WSBK teams, BMW, and has entered the draw for Schumacher's lollipop ...... for next season.

... seems like biaggi has his finger in alot of pies there

I`m starting to feel sorry for Max, I mean, all these rumours are starting to get annoying. I`ll belive it when it`s official

Richo, why feel sorry for him? I'm sure he's instigating these rumours. If people think there's competition for him, it'll make signing him a more attractive proposition.

i dont think max would be instigating the rumours ... but i sure he wouldnt do anything to heed their spread either ...

more rumours =
more attention =
more publicity ... which max seems to LUFF

From what I've heard, Jezza is tied to the BMW project. I think the two most likely candidates for the Ilmor ride would be Biaggi and West (despite the fact he claims he hand't even heard of the offer when asked about his relationship to the project). West did a brilliant job in assisting KTM with their 250 machine, I say give him a go on the 800.

well way back whenever i posted that first topic on Ilmor he hadn't been contacted by them in anyway way shape or form
would be interesting to seem him on the 800cc project, could be of alot of assistance

Ilmor have said they want a rider with RCV experience since they believe this should be their 'reference'. Barros and Biaggi were mentioned so who knows? Depends on who they can afford and if sponsors believe in it enough, gonna have to be some fancy talkin' there.

Jeremey is keeping tight-lipped on the BMW project but I've been informed he's heavily involved.

BMW should make Jezza thier test rider, he`s got years of experience, which they could find valuable, but I think at his age, he`d have trouble keeping up with younger, fitter guys.

As for Ilmor, well Biaggi could give better results than Barros, but you gotta put up with the whinging, don`t ya? How about Gibernau? He`s not only got RCV experence, but RCV Development experience too. Or Edwards, He`s been on an underdog factory bike for two years, and had some good results, he spent a year on an RCV, and He could bring favour from Michelin, which wouldn`t hinder Ilmor. Both these guys could be pretty cheap buys come next year, with their job prospects a bit shakey. Maybe a two rider team? Axe the least impressive of the two in `08 and start grooming West for the big bikes. That`s what I`d do anyway...

According to Crash.net, Red Bull is in talks with Ilmor to sponsor the team. However, my understanding is they want control over the team, similar to their F1 teams. Rumor also has it they have been in discussion with Kawasaki and are believed to enter the bidding war to sponsor the 2007 factory Yamaha squad.

hahahaha... He is going to have to take what he can get

Give it to Westy!!

He deserves a competetive go at the big time!!

Check out antwest14.com and grab some new AntWest merch, help him raise some funds to jump on a factory 250 if Ilmor overlook him, like so many teams seem to do

Gooo Westy!

Cheers..

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>McCoy tests Brit GP bike
Former MotoGP star and Grand Prix winner Garry McCoy is testing the British Ilmor GP machine at Albacete.
McCoy is riding today, Tuesday, August 29 and Wednesday August 30, 2006. This would suggest the Australian is favourite to race the machine when it makes two appearances this season at Estoril and Valencia, particularly as McCoy has won races at both tracks in the past.
