Are there any news about a 2010 round in Hungary? I have heard for the planned Balatoncircuit constructions have not even started. However, i found a site that already ask to register for ticket information. Is that fake or do they know more than the rest of us?

Gabor wouldn't have sponsors if it werent going down...don't forget the 250's team.
You're right to be skeptical. Aside from the chain bridge and hot hookers, Hugary has nothing going for it.

Are you being serious here?? Reassure me that was intended as a joke??!

Nope, not kidding. But I've only been there once. Fill me in playa!

Presumably you went to Budapest - you can't judge an entire country on the basis of its Capital City, or more pertinently, the quality of its red light district - otherwise The Netherlands would be the greatest country on earth.

Saying that, I like Budapest, but I concede that the old influence of the Eastern Bloc has left its stain on much of the countries urban form. Rurally, much of it is flat drab arable farmland, but the history and the culture is fascinating - how could it not be being bordered by Serbia, Slovenia, Romania, Ukraine, Slovak Rep, and of course Austria, with which it was once amongst the most powerful Empires in Europe.

Regarding the proposed GP, it's easy to speculate that as an ex communist country, the infra structure and the organisation will be questionable, but look at those legendary historical races at the Sachsenring when it was still part of East Germany, (although in those day's facilities were ..... everywhere), and what of Brno? IMO a great GP to visit, and a bargain.

We'll see, but I don't think you can dismiss an entire country based on one visit. If you don't mind my asking, how long were you there, why, and where?

I've been to the GP in Brno 2008. It was cheap and fun, but the City didn't accomodate the GP as well as it should have. The culture is also quite disparate from western europe and the Sloviakians in town make it even stranger. There was also a weird historical festival which seemed to have influenced the atmosphere. I do have a Czech 'girlfriend' now, so that also had an influence on my Brno experience. The women outside of the downtown blew my mind in hotness level. (FWIW, I had been to Praha twice b4 the GP). So yes, east europe can be fun. But comparing Germany and Czech isn't realistic. The level of western influence living standards are vastly different.

Hugary is a different story. I was mostly having a laugh as BudaPest is the only place I've visited, and I just stayed for 2 days. Certainly can't judge the country. Howver, the language is distinct from any in europe. The food is baffling. Transportation is mediocre. Gypsies are plentiful.

Since the GP is even further east than Brno, I'm not sure how easy it will be for a westerner to acclimitize to seeing a race there. Furthermore, Hungary is not a wealthly country and MotoGP may not find the economic support it needs to race there.

A mate of mine went to Balaton for a boys trip last year. He said the airport was like a small cabin which could just about handle the 1 flight every 3 days from the UK.
But he had a great time ! good weather, decent food and cheap ale.....add to that a weekend at the GP and it could be a winner !

Thanks for the very comprehensive reply, and points well made.

I didn't compare Czech Republic and Germany, I was referring to EastGermany, when it was part of the Eastern Bloc. - a very different place. But yeah, not comparable to The Czech Republic.

You think Gypsies are plentiful in Hungary - hop across the order into Romania next time you're there.

Thanks for your replies guys. However, I can also not agree on what clarkjw is writing. I have been many times in Hungary, in several places. I love the open and friendly atmosphere there, i love the food and the women (not the hookers). You should probably get out of your head that all pretty eastern european women are either .... stars or hookers. Once that happend, you will be able to see them different and start enjoying their attitude and just have a lot of fun...

Having a party in one of Budapest's outdoor place in summer time is something almost ibiza can not come up with. I will be there again with the guys this year for F1, however MotoGP would be of preferable...

So still hopeing for 2010 and registering now on the website. Maybe it helps

The more they see the interest and demand, probably the decision to build or not is easier
