First i would lengthen the race to where everybody had to make at least one pit stop for gas, and tires if you choose. It would get the whole team involved and would set up some great strategy.I would race every weekend in 5 week intervals, take 1 week off in between and go 5 more.Add more races for a total of 25. . The summer break is way to long, the new fringe fans they might have picked up over the first half will find something else to occupy their time.Out of sight, out of mind.Television revenue is the life blood of racing in general and its hard to sell something that lasts 45 minutes and takes 2-3 week naps in between races.Keeping it in front of the publics face, week after week, month after month is what will make bike racing a mainstream sport.Once it becomes mainstream, you will have larger fields and teams wont be running around begging for money a week before the season starts.

You are entitled to your opinions and all but all of that sounds terrible, and is the last thing the sport needs.

Tom hit the nail on the head, povol we dont want a two wheeled F1 happening here! Pitstops!? What have u been smoking? All your ideas are laughable, riders are exhausted with 18 races as it is, anymore and it would become far too taxing and expensive..

The first post of yours that makes sense and doesn't mention Anthony West. Well done!

I kinda like the idea of pitstops? real cool to watch. and it can make or break a race. love to watch the endurance races. when I can ever see them here in the states?

R-46, don't you have the Sebring 12 hour race? I don't know if thats anywhere near you.

As far as I'm concerned, the mechanics role is to set up the bike as well as they can up until when the lights go out. When that happens, the mechanics should be free to enjoy the race. I'd rather riders skill levels settle a race instead of mechanics skill levels.

Lack of pitstops is part of what makes motogp engaging and entertaining to watch. Relatively short races make for more drama and make every lap matter more. If you want pit stops, watch the Isle of Mann TT or something. The shorter length of races is a strength imo. 1 hour including a bit of build up and wrap up is a very convenient length of time.

What it really needs is more US coverage with announcers that don't suck and who know and love the sport. Even the races that do broadcast here I (re) watch the Eurosport coverage. A lot of the time the announcers we get here can make an exciting race sound boring :-/

It is already so exciting that sometimes I almost can't bear to watch...well, most of the time.

`ummm, pit stops, could be interesting to watch but im not sure it will make the racing close like we all love to see it may cause them to become more spaced out on the track,so im 50/50 on that one.
before anyone accuses me of smoking something illegal , i dont smoke but i do drink so blame this crazy idea on the booze

le mans starts. remember those ? all the riders running to there bikes then having to bumpstart them, great to watch, but i no these diesels are just imposable to bumpstart. mabe 2 short races like wsb could work if motogp starts to become like an F1 prossesion.

Good and bad points to this. If managed correctly, they might be a good addition to the racing, and would clearly seperate MotoGP from superbike racing. However, thats just the problem, if they aren't managed right, we could see processional racing decided by strategy. Don't get me wrong, I like pitstops, but I can't see it working in bike racing to be honest.

Povol, pitstops? No. Come on.
Some folks about here would have a control tyre implemented to make a more exciting race, but I think this would be a step equivalently bad to pitstops.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. And for me it ain't broke.

Povol why don't we just sign motogp over to Bernie and let him "improve" it, the results would probably suit you quite nicely.

142 million people watch MotoGP every two weeks. Thats as many viewers as Superbowl has once a year. Its exciting enough for the rest of the world. For some reason, we americans don;t get it.. I don;t think the problem is with the format of the race. Its with the viewers. They need to educated, motivated, cajoled and tortured if necessary to start watching it.

pit stops..thats just stupid...Moto GP is a SPRINT RACE.

to make it more exciting...easy...bring back the 990s, trash the tracktion control and tire rule.

I doubt that would have much effect, Bernies role in F1 has nothing to do with the actual regulations. We wouldn't have Laguna, though.

The most exciting racing Ive evr watched was the old Pro Am Elsie series. (Some people may find Google helpful here!)

If you want pure exciement in bike racing, put out a load of identical bikes, and the riders pick the keys.

Not gonna happen in GP though, is it?

Lengthening a race 5-10 laps and its still a sprint.Lets say the bike would run 27 laps on a tank of fuel and the race was 37 laps. After 10 laps if you were having tire trouble you could come into the pits, get new tires and refueled and you would be set for the finish knowing everone else is going to pit somewhere along the line.Your on new tires and everybody else is starting to slip and slide.By short pitting, your actually gaining time until the other guys start pitting.Do they short pit or not,do they take the extra time to take on tires if they come in late.I think it would ad a lot of exitement and come from behind wins.As it is now,you can pretty much pick the podium after lap 10 if there is not a crash or mechanical failure. In the above scenario the guy that short pitted would more than likely have the lead after evryone else pitted but now they are on fresh tires and his are shot, that would make for exciting finishes.
Or i like you idea about bringing back the 990's without TC but the tire rule should stay the same or they need to run an equal number of races in Asia as they do Europe so Bridgestone can make and fly in special tires after they have evaluated the track condidtions

how bout a le mans style push start? dani can get puig to help him?

Ridiculous! Mick Doohan would have one nothing with a push start! Melandri's brilliant ride on the weekend would have been non existent as well! I love it just the way it is, but maybe getting rid of traction control would be a good idea!
