How Team Hammer Got The GSX-R750 Back In The Race

Nice article about developing the GSX-R750 for Supersport Next Generation regulations. For those who may not be aware, the GSX-R750 was homologated with the proviso that Suzuki or someone would develop a throttle by wire system for retrofit. Apparently, that task has fallen to Team Hammer.

Excerpts:
Ulrich turned to Bike Sports Developments in the U.K. to develop the throttle bodies needed to make the GSX-R750 eligible. Now, if you want to race a GSX-R750, you can buy the throttle bodies from Team Hammer for $2,750.

Throttle openings are limited to about 78 percent and few other engine modifications are allowed. By comparison, the GSX-R600 the team raced in recent years was allowed more modifications, including a radical camshaft.

Great article. Back in the day, the Team Hammer crew did a lot of club races and I was a huge admirer of Bruce. Real American can-do guy. When I first applied for my AMA-CCS number, I chose 52 because it had been his number when he was still actively riding. Superstitious riders wouldn’t use it.
