<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>Factory Suzuki rider John Hopkins has shunned an operation on his right wrist in the Easter break, admitting he will have to ride through the pain barrier for the entire 2007 MotoGP world championship campaign. Doctors wanted the 23-year-old American to undergo surgery on a seriously damaged ligament in his right wrist, which was completely sheared away from the scaphoid bone when he crashed at 120mph during winter testing at Qatar on February 15. Hopkins though has told MCN he will brave the pain for the remainder of the season

i have no reason for attaching that photo other than 'the chick looks canny fit. '

Does the article gave any reason as to why he chose not to undergo surgical operation?

Did anyone here see Bayliss's crash this weekend that took one of his fingers off.He missed race 2 undergoing reconstuctive surgery. You never know how something like this can linger for years. The slightest loss of feel in the hand can be devastating to a racer.

I would assume he's opted out of the operation because the healing process would likely require him to miss at least a round or two. Good on him for gritting his teeth and giving it his all, I just hope this decision doesn't have any lingering effects.

coz if that's the case, then yeah, we could just hope that it doesn't do him more damage by further stressing that injured area.

When I saw the picture and before I read the quote I thought the "Hopkins is nails" reference was because he was riding wearing a shirt, shorts and flip-flops.

I hope he's making the right decision because as much as I want to see him race and compete, will he be able to compete for an entire season with his wrist in that condition and will delaying the surgery cause more problems in the long-term. I'm sure he would have been consulted about the options and I hope he doesn't have another crash that will make it worse.

He doesn't look lke he's in to much pain there. Perhaps she's helping him deal with that.

I said this in another thread and others disagreed with me, but I do think it'll take Bayliss a while to regain a comfortable feel...it's not every day you lose a finger, small one or not.

I agree with this, my hubby lost 2 fingers 2 years ago and is still in pain from it every day.

Unless you're Micheal Jackson.
