Give Westy a full year and see if what his results are in his full second year, they'll be as good, if not better than CV's this year....

Considering what CV is doing now, to do better West will have to be in the top 3 riders next season. That is nothing short of unrealistic

Not next season you tool.. Read my post, i said the season AFTER his first full season (that is what CV's in now? is it not? his second full season?) .. Sheesh, thick people these days..

Well i wouldn't exactly call it a fair comparison for Ant (highly experienced GP rider) to get 1.5 years of learning when CV is doing whats hes doing with only one year in the paddock. Not that it changes much, i don't expect Ant to ever be in the top 3 riders in the world.

Maybe you should borrow antfans ant-tinted glasses™ then you will!

How many people would have picked Casey Stoner to be 85 point's clear with five races remaining in 2007 and on target to officially become the BEST rider in the world? Be careful what you say, it could come back to haunt you..

How many people woulda thought Michelin would be so crap compared to Bridgestone and the Honda's off the pace?
Fact is anything is possible and Ant looks like he's gonna fight and make things intresting.

As for the original topic Hopkins is fast but I think CV has his number at the moment. He moved to Kawi to get paid no doubt.

....... Ben! You crack me up! That was funny ..... Hahaha

Hey, how did this thread become an Anthony West thread? Oh, thanks Antfan.

West is a good rider, no doubt now. I just think CV is better. Please, don't get your panties in a twist Antfan, I like both of them. You just crack me up sometimes because you are such a diehard West worshiper. Sometimes I wonder if you are a family member or some insane stalker of West. West has proven he is worth man, but please, lets not start handing him championships just yet.

Back on topic: Hopkins is better than we have been privy to see. I just hope we can see him prove it on a green machine.

hoppers has been with the Suzuki for what 5 years and chris only what 1.5 that is the big difference and if you look at all the statistics cv has a much better record in those 1.5

they have both been on the 800 for the same amount of time so i dont think that has a lot to do with it.
hopper is good but not champion material, jury's still out on cv.

I've followed CV's career for a fair while & would have to describe it as steady progression.

Hopper on the other hand has obvious talent but until the last year or so seemingly hasn't had the equipment to show it.

I put the 2007 comparison between Hopper & Chris as being honours even, with JH a bit more consistent but CV with the better results at times. Not to mention Chris being taken out of Assen by "you-know-who!"

I'm looking forward to the remainder of the season with great interest!

Its a hard call. Hopper and KRJr deserve credit for the bike that Chris is on. But Chris is only in his second season on the bike and has done better than Hopper. Points don't lie. Chris rides with his head, John rides with his ballz. It takes a well maintained brain to win a Championship... so you know who I feel is the better rider.

I like Hopper a lot, he comes across as a nice bloke.

I must admit I'm a bit concerned about the move to Kawasaki.
Having said that I certainly think he will bring the best out of the bike.

I still can't believe he's moving to Kawi...after doing all of that work, you'd think he would stay on the Suk and reap the rewards...

he effectively swapped his championship contention for money

i think next season will prove or disprove that, only time will tell which is the better ride.

For me, CV is the better rider and results to tend to back that up to this stage of the year with each failing to score one race.

Undoubtedly Hopkins has far more flair and showmanship than CV but that does not win championships or races and this is where Hopper lets himself down where I feel CV shines. CV rides with his head in that he pushes as hard as he is comfortable whilst limiting the risk of error in order to get the most point from the predicament.

IMO Hopper rides with a 'win it or bin it' style, which whilst entertaining tends to mean that his results fluctuate between brilliant and poor lacking a certain level of consistency.

I am aware from other forums that Hopper's results have been consistent this year and with that the case it still points to CV being the better rider but my eyes are coloured as I am a CV fan.

As for Hopper to Kwak, the lure of the mighty green machine (the US Dollar) sealed that deal and IMO if he fails to achieve decent results (ie. consistent top 4 - 5 with occasional podiums or wins) that he will not be around much longer.
