Hope not a preview to the season

Didn't think was a bad race for a season opener, some good overtaking by Lorenzo and others...but a shame not to see P1 changing hands at all...

Opinions?

I thought it was pretty cool other than the win being decided in the first corner.

I think and hope that the following races will get better though. We'll have to see a couple more races to know how the season will turn out like.

There are a few riders that ended up pretty far back (I don't think it's controversial to suggest that Pedrosa and Capirossi are almost certain to fare significantly better in future contests and it's hardly out of the question for Hayden come to terms with the Duc and/or Melandri exceed initial expectations on the HAYATE.) who have a decent very good shot at having the pace to be contesting for higher positions fairly soon. Not necessarily at the front, but at least sniffing the podium. If the riders who finished ahead of them can continue doing well and they can pick up the pace, we could at least have decent midpack action. The advantage of stoner checking out completely is that the battles further back get screen time. If he had maintained a lesser but still safe lead we'd have probably been stuck watching him and Rossi circulate and missed coverage of the battles further back.

I think there was a positive directive by Dorna, (for once), pushed by KRsnr (shortly after they secured the Vegas sponsorship), for directors to attempt to give more screen time to the entire field during the race and not just go with the front runners. This was in order to benefit the sponsors, so didn't necessarily have to involve any battles - but obviously not to detract from anything happening up front, nor to dilute any further (what have since then become) essentially sterile races. Having said that, I don't recall seeing many shots of JT, Sete and Nicky last night...that may be why.

It's still too early to under estimate others. Qatar is a new track (night race) and Rossi was fourth last year. When we go to Montegi then we can predict whether Casey can be the WC this year.

This year front runners : Casey, Valentino, Lorenzo, Dovi, Collin E, .....Pedro

I know you guys love NASCAR

but one thing they do better than anybody is the TV coverage. Whomever runs the GP's need to watch and take notes. Split screens in high def are a thing of beauty, especially when there is so many things happening on the track at once. NASCAR may show as many as 4-6 screens at once when there are battles happening all over the track. With a big screen TV it's amazing. Of course producers have a much harder time with the GP's because sometimes its just luck wether you catch something or not but NASCAR has every single angle covered and sometimes from multiple directions. I'm sure the split screen coverage is possible but maybe Dorna is thinking about their online package and customers watching on their 15" computer screen

But I think that this is quite possible and I would like to copyright the idea.
