I know everyone blames Herrin for the incident, but I'm not so sure. He over corrected after the first contact with Westby, but he was on the outside and he was trying to make the tri-oval kink. This suspension seems borderline excessive.

They say NASCAR has a history of ego conflicts with drivers and that they often act based upon a person's attitude. I hope they have something more compelling than Herrin's unrepentant attitude. I definitely saw Herrin put his elbow out while Dane was steering away from him, but that's slow motion replays. If you watch it in real time, nothing looks dirty.

I'm convinced they are sending a message based upon last years events. They want to see clean racing and are laying down the law from the get go. I'v watched it enough times to agree that Herrin needed a warning or penalty but suspension seems harsh.

OUCH! a little harsh I have to agree! IMO the daytona incident was part overriding, part racing incident, and part stupidity on Herrins behalf. He did deserve some sort of sanction but not to be forced to sit out a whole event. Im sure Mr. Graves isn't too happy about the $7500 he has to shell out either

Agree, harsh but at least a fine. Im not shedding any tears.
